We are working in Hogwarts years, so she would have to be 17 to be a senior...

Her birthday is during the school year - she missed the cut-off date so she's like Ron, she's a bit older than everyone
EDIT
Scratch that. I figured out her birthday. She just graduated

we are working on the birthday thing... since it can be a bit confusing. We can have characters that are a year under or a year over the age depending on their birthday, but we need to figure out how it works. so... Just hae her at 17 for now... if she is to be a student.

I already wrote in a post that she isn't ... she turned 18 during her senior year so she's definitely out of school. Sorry for the mass confusion!!

If I might chime in about the american school age thing. The old rule was If you were born in September you went to school that year. If you were born October to June, you started a prep class in some places known at a pre.... It varied depending on the school district. The new rules are December to September goes that year and January through June goes the following year. Thank you.

wouldn't it make most sense if the rukles were the same as hogwarts? if you are at least the admission age when the school year starts, you start that year, if you turn 14 just 1 day after, you go in the next year (in other words, someone who had their birthday ON the frts day of school would be the youngest, someone who had their birthday the next day would be the oldest, and be a yeraolder than most of the class)

Yes, so: Turning fourteen January 1st to August 1st= Start that year. Turn fourteen August 2nd to December 31st= Start next year. Unless there are different rules for here, but that's Canon.
And yeah, it was kind of both Ron and Hermione, but Hermione was older. Ron wasn't much older than anyone. Not that it really matters, it has nothing to do with the point of this thread...

yeah I know all that...
We just need to figure it out and put it up in the application.... and then everyone can change their age to the proper one if need be. ^_^

"Canon ages" are easy to work out. If this were Hogwarts, your character would need to be 11 before the 1st of September, when they got sorted. So here they need to be 14 before they get sorted.
That means people born in September, October, November or December are slightly older than everyone else in their grade, and people born between January and August are all around the same age. If you were born on August 31, you'd be the youngest person in your grade.
Easy peasy.

not quite. SWIM starts in august. in fact, the cutoff should be august the 2nd, so if they are born on or before august the second, they are with most of their peers, after that they are a years older than their peers.
