It had been a most glorious three weeks, more than likely the most glorious in her life, but now Evie had found it was time to come home. Home, not her house, not where she grew up, but the one place where she actually felt at home: Salem's Peak. As much as she enjoyed Hawaii, and oh did she, Evie was glad to be at home, and sad to say, at work as well. With a fresh tan, a memento of her trip, and a few fun looking giftbags, Evie arrived at the Salem Screamer Headquarters. Fortunately she had been able to keep up with her job as the advice columnist through owls, and fortunately her boss was understanding enough to let her do so.
"Guess who's back!!" Evie yelled triumphantly, not caring about the dirty looks from her loud and rather boisterous entrance. Giftbags in hand, Evie had been forced to open the door with her hip, lifting both hands in triumphant return as the gift bags claimed the center of attention through the office. Of course once the staff realized they were more than likely gifts, the dirty stares turned into eager grins.
"Yes, I brought a little something back with me," Evie teased coyly as she set the numerous little bags down onto a table. Name tags and all, and please forgive me if there's a mispelling or two. With the generous cash prize involved in her sweepstakes winnings, Evie had felt it the need to be generous, even though it only extended to quite a few three-dollar knickknacks from a beachstand. That was one Hawaiian among many that would never forget her.
Leaving the bags to the wolves, Evie returned to her desk, sitting back in her chair with a large sigh. It was good to be back, and as she propped her feet up on the desk, she adjusted the flower in her hair, ensuring it was still in place. Of course she had plenty of work to do, especially since she hadn't been the most productive during her trip. But still, couldn't a girl have a moment to relax?

Cecilia sighed and shuffled through a few notes, staring down at what she had written about Tristin. It had been a couple weeks since their...meeting... and she had yet to even put the pen to the parchment to write his story. And she didn't want to either. The man was a pig. A completely moronic... absolutely obnoxious... positively repulsive pig. She couldn't believe she had let him impregnate her all those years ago. She shuddered to think of what Chloe would have been like had she been raised by the man. Probably pregnant at 14.
Like mother like daughter... a voice murmured in the back of her head. She told it to shut up before she mentally strangled it and went back to reading her notes. The scribbled ink began to blur and she felt herself tear up. God she could use a friend right now... someone other then her daughter. Someone to talk about adult things too... like how she screwed up her entire life with a complete asshole.
"Guess who's back!!"
Cecilia's head shot up and her eyes went wide. Was that... No it couldn't be! She isn't due for another week! Her mind reeled as she recognized the vivacious voice of none other then the Gossip queen Evelyn Davis. Glancing quickly at her calender, Cecilia realized in horror that she had forgotten that Evie was coming back today. And she hadn't even gotten her a welcome home gift or banner!!
Bolting from her chair, she left her office in a storm of peach Cotton and Grey silk, her eyes intent on Evie's desk. Arriving at it, she summoned some orchids wordlessly and placed them on Evie's desk. "Good to see you back..." She said with a warm smile as she placed a hand on Evie's shoulder. She would have given her a hug, but most of the people in the office disapproved of their friendship as it was, she didn't need to appear like she was playing favorites. Bending down she whispered briefly "Come see me in my office... I need to talk to you..."

"Good to see you back..."
"Oh, Celia, do I have some stories for you!" Evie squeaked, overjoyed by seeing her friend again. As odd as it had sounded, Evie had actually missed that neurotic, analytical nut-bag. It was good to see her friend again, and besides, Evie couldn't wait to share her gift for Celia.
"Come see me in my office... I need to talk to you..."
"But of course!" Evie replied, stopping first only to smell the beautiful orchids that had come with Celia's arrival. She had known there was something missing on her desk; a huge, over-the-top display of flowers. And while Celia's was quite tasteful in the current setting, they still lacked the bit of oomph to which Evie was accustomed.
"I'm back not one minute, and already I'm being dragged into the lion's den," Evie teased as she rose from her seat. To be honest, she had actually grown a bit bored those two seconds in her chair. Sure it was nice to relax, and it was good to be back, but did she have to start working right off the bat? Thank God Celia had rescued her, although she knew she'd be put back to work sooner or later. The key was making it happen later. As she walked over to Celia's office, Evie stole a quick glance at the table, noting the disappearance of half the bags. They'd be gone by the time she came out, Evie was sure.

"But of course!"
Cecilia barely waited for a reply before she turned sharply and went bck towards her office without a word. Sure, this was a friendly visit, not the 'Trip to the lions den' like Evie thought, but she couldn't let anyone else know otherwise. Evie was well liked by the higher ups, known for her quick wit and humor, but that didn't mean those who were on the same level or lower wouldn't claim favortism if they saw the two together. It was better that the whispers about Evie being in trouble were thought to be true.
Once inside, Cecilia shut her door on the inquisitive looks and condemning voices. The moment the latch clicked shut, she sighed like she was falling apart. Stumbling to her chair, she fell into it limply and put her heads in her hands. Without ushering Evie to a seat, knowing she would take one anyways, Cecilia let out a moan "Oh God Evie... I screwed up.... I screwed up so bad..."

Without any hesitation, Evie walked over to the small bar and pulled a tea from the fridge. Of course she might have waited for it to be offered, but she knew Celia wouldn't mind. Besides, it meant they didn't have to waste words on the matter, either. With a smile in thought of her Hawaii trip, Evie twisted off the cap and looked under the lid. Not this time, although Evie would fall dead of shock if she won another trip.
Slipping into the chair in front of Celia's desk, Evie crossed her legs, taking a sip of the tea. She had forgotten to bring some sugar, but it would have to do, at least for the moment. It didn't take long for Celia to come to the point of the matter, though. "Oh honey," Evie sympathized, genuinely worried about her friend. Cecilia Lark did not fall apart under any circumstances, and there she was looking as if her puppy had just been run over by semi-truck.
While she had sent little chatty messages to Celia during her trip, Evie had no idea that something had been going on in all that time. She couldn't think of any oncoming crisis that could have happened during her time in Hawaii, but it had to have been something major to distress Celia in such a manner. "What happened, Celia?" she asked, her mind already running through the possibilities. If it was some screw-up, it couldn't have been that bad, and it could be fixed. All screw-ups could be fixed, and by golly, Evie would fix it. Besides, she didn't think Celia was capable of screwing anything up.
