Yeah, so, after spending three hours of shopping and only buying a couple of new pair of shoes, Michelle's feet were killing her. Her stomach was definitely showing, enough to make this day necessary. Her robes were uncomfortably tight, and she needed some maternity robes.
She had started in the other clothing stores in the mall, even the second hand store, but no one had any maternity clothes that didn't make her look like a giant marshmallow. It was amazing, the people who made the maternity clothes obviously were never pregnant, or they would have known that most women didn't want flashing signs saying "HEY LOOK AT ME! I'M WITH CHILD!" Michelle certainly did not.
Dark, that was the direction she was going for. Pink, Purple, and White just didn't suit Michelle. She picked up a pair of robes that looked slightly less repulsive, and looked at it appraisingly. Just as she thought, there were no pockets, how the hell was she supposed to keep her wand on her? get a holster?
Michelle wanted everyone to know that just because she was pregnant didn't disable her. She was still a very competent duelist. She put the black dress with dalmatian puppies dancing all around it back on the shelf.
Sighing heavily, she moved along down the line.

Saturday, Saturday, the world's greatest day was Saturday, and Evie was shopping. Not only was she shopping, she was spending money that she might not possibly have. It was the only way to shop, although Evie would never admit how much she enjoyed hemming and hawwing and biting her lip into the seventh circle of Hell. Flamboyantly dressed in a bright pink Hawaiian print dress, Evie stood out like a brightly dressed thumb in the middle of the Valley Mall. Not that it was distasteful, though. It flattered her abundant top while showing off her other curves as well. Evie could flaunt it, and she was tired of being cooped up in a dingy apartment or a dingy desk.
Twilfit and Tattings was one of her favorite shops, mostly because of its full name. Outlet. If she had been a brighter child, it might have been her first words, but alas, that honor had gone to "mama" instead. With a cute matching purse, Evie strolled into the store, waving hello to the saleswomen as she showed off vacation purchases. The store had certainly grown darker than it had been in her memory, and Evie's mood was darkened by the sudden invasion of an unfriendly shopping atmosphere. With senses honed by long-time advice giving, Evie narrowed her sights on an unhappy woman with a bit of a problem. Whether it was welcome or not, Evie strolled over, keeping her bouncing in check as she let her joy show only through a bright grin.
"Hello honey," Evie spoke up sweetly as she approached the very pregnant woman. "I hate to tell you this, but.." Evie said softly, dropping her voice to a whisper, "this is the old grannies section, and you definetely do not belong there." With a friendly smile, Evie stood back, hoping for at least the semblance of a smile. She couldn't stand to see unhappy people, especially those that should be happy.

Ugh. It was amazing how many ugly outfits there were around her. It wasn't like she was eighty, people had just seemed to give up on making descent clothes. Looking up, Michelle sighed.
"Hello honey,"
When Michelle heard the voice, her head turned to greet the face. With a smile, not exactly one of her normal smiles, but a smile none the less, Michelle greeted the woman back with a quick, "Hello there." Okay, so it wasn't much, but she wasn't sure if she even knew this person. The Practical Magic professor thought that she might, only because the other woman had called her honey. Maybe it was only because she didn't know what else to call Michelle.
"I hate to tell you this, but.. this is the old grannies section, and you definitely do not belong there."
"Wha..." Michelle began, the smile sliding off her face quickly. No... that wasn't right, there was no way she could have been in the grannies section... they didn't even make a grannies section. Then, a true smile lit up the woman's face. So she was shopping in the old ladies section. Michelle started to laugh, "So I am..." she said.
"I'm Michelle Kimball, how would you like to help me?" she said, extending her hand for the new woman to shake.

"Wha..."
Evie could have burst out laughing at the look on the lady's face, if she weren't worried about coming off as rude or snobbish. She was about to apologize and explain when she saw a smile begin to form. Score one for Evie, she should never have doubted herself. Of course she had the innate, God-given ability to make people smile. How could she ever think otherwise?
"So I am...I'm Michelle Kimball, how would you like to help me?"
After mentally noting to never underestimate or second-guess herself again, Evie firmly shook the woman's hand. "Evie Davis," she replied, keeping her smile on as she made eye contact. "And I would bring me great joy to help you," she added, dropping her hand as she considered how the name sounded familiar. It was possible through any number of ways, and so Evie merely kept it at the back of her mind. It would come later. For now, there was work at hand.
"How far along are you, if you don't mind my asking," Evie asked curiously, dying to know. She loved children, especially the ones that she could play with and give back to their mothers. Children were so cute, but they were time-consuming, and Evie was one to know. As Evie asked her question, she began to move slowly away from the god-awful stacks of dalmations and kittens. While she knew Twilfit had their reasons for supplying it, it didn't mean Evie had to like it. Meandering about the store was always fun, and always supplied more surprises than straight "in and out" shopping. Besides, Evie needed to know more about Michelle in order to shop for her. Evie never shopped for strangers, that was her rule. The consequences always turned disastrous.
