Where you found one the other wasn’t that far behind. The went to the Marie Leveau Coven School and were offer sent to the prinicpal’s office for some sort of mischief.
The month before she went to SWIM with Remy, Timothy disappeared on his way to work. Mercy and her mother watched at the local police and the Aurors tried to find him. Mercy watched them as they desperately tried to hunt down every lead. During this time, Remy became Mercy’s rock as she adjusted to her father’s disappearance and possible murder. This was the first time Mercy Learned about The Death Eater’s and how Timothy LaCroix was a possible victim. The LaCroix murder case is still open . Mercy devotes a good portion of her spare time trying to solve it.
At SWIM, Mercy was placed in Merlin with her best friend, Remy. The two often got into trouble but for the most part two very studious students. Mercy’s father’s disappearance haunted her through school and she never stopped trying to solve the case. During her junior year, She met a former Auror, Benjamin Whitefeather, who was recruiting for the government for Aurors. Mercy wasn’t interested in police work until she showed him the work she had done on her father’s case. Ben Was very impressed with Mercy’s ability and offered to follow any leads that she couldn’t. The two struck a correspondence. Ben lobbied to have the case restarted and traced it back to England and the war there.
Mercy graduated with top marks. In gratitude to Ben , she joined The Magical division of the FBI training facilities in Quantico, Virginia. Remy joined her also intrigued by the prospect of helping people. Mercy worked very hard and was surprised to find Ben as one of instructors. She showed a interest in criminal behavior and profiling. She worked with Ben on one of his projects which consisted of interviewing former and convicted Death Eaters with the intentions of building a database to help understand those types of crimes. Mercy is one of the few agents that fully can understand the Death Eater mindset and has helped solved several unsolved cases from that era.
Mercy has helped solved many cases over her 9 years as an agent. The only one that hasn’t been solved is her own father’s death. However each interview brings her one step closer to the truth. Eventually she wants to go to Azkaban in England and find out what she can there.
Currently, Mercy was assigned to help protect SWIM against a Death Eater attack. The Government has received rumors of a possible attack in America after the incidents in England. Mercy was assigned to SWIM, her old school to help understand how the De’s would attack and how to prevent. She is also to search out any spies in the school who could endanger the other students. Mercy walked up to the crowded area. It was swelteringly hot causing her to forgo the traditional suit for jeans and a t- shirt. Her Auror badge hung from around her neck as she strode past the gathering on lookers. It was so strange that of all things a double homicide was pulling people from their air conditioned houses to the street. The police cars were still flashing.
Mercy removed her sunglasses as she walked up another officer. He extended his hand warily. Most Police agencies were wary of anything that smelled federal. And Magical Federal was even worse to them. She gave him a slow smile as she took him in. He was the lead investigator and his overall stance spoke it. Tread lightly she thought, men don’t like women who were too bossy.
After a few minutes of idle talk about the bare basics of the crime, the man helped her under the crime scene tape. Mercy was surprised how short of a time it took to be let in. She gave him a smile full of pure Southern charm as she walked around taking in the scene. Several trash cans and items were scattered everywhere, the obvious signs of a fight. Mercy squatted next to a CSI agent as he found traces of blood. So someone was hurt in the fight. The attacker or the victim was the question. Nodding, she stood up and walked around. She frowned deeply as she took a mental account of everything at the scene. It was messy. The killer wasn’t experienced or it would have been neater. He was hurried and possibly desperate.
Making sure she didn’t miss any details, she walked back to the body. The young woman was just laying in the cluttered alley. Her eyes were open staring vacantly at the building that towered over her. Mercy gazed at her tenderly. The poor thing never stood a chance. She was covered in cuts but nothing that was fatal. The autopsy will reveal more, but Mercy knew the signs. The Killing Curse was used on this young girl which supported the desperate aspect. Talk to me, honey, Mercy thought, Tell me why you were here and why they wanted you dead?
Accepting a pair of gloves from another CSI agent, Mercy began to check the young lady’s wrists and forearms. The fading outline of a skull like picture was slowly fading. Mercy stared until it hit her. The Dark Mark. So she was a Death Eater, that means it possibly was a hit. Mercy looked away with a frowned. Only one thing could prove it. Plus why leave the body here. Death Eaters never leave hits in the open. It pointed to a very young attacker. Maybe part of an initiation, still something wasn’t right. She walked up to the lead. The man looked at her expectantly.
“Where is the victim’s wand?” Mercy asked, “It wasn’t found, was it?”
“No, Ma’am.” The officer replied.
“I thought not. We need to clear these people out, it’s too dangerous.” Mercy explained and whispered, “She was a DE, and left in the open. They wanted us to find her. They wanted to attract Muggles to this spot. We need to clear all non-police and Auror personnel, now.”
Mercy watched as the police began to disperse the crowd of by standers. As they slowly trickled away, she felt better. She walked back to the now silent crime scene and continued to peruse the scene for clues. As she looked she froze as she spotted piece of fabric with a partial insignia at the back of the alley. Things were neater here. So the fight was only at the mouth, possibly an ambush. Mercy using her wand poked the fabric and felt her blood run cold. The Salem Witches Institute of Magic stared back at her. How was her alma mater involved? Was it possible a student did this? After called over the CSI team, Mercy returned to a nearby squad car and radioed in her finding. This wasn’t good if there was DE’s at the school after the Attack on Hogwarts. Was SWIM next?
