Tori stepped into the classroom quietly just in case class had started. She had spent too much time in her bed arguing with herself with if she should go to class or not. In the end, she decided to get up, but she had spent a total of twenty minutes deciding to get up or not, which left her only a few minutes to eat breakfast. In fact, she just finished swallowing a piece of toast as she walked into the classroom. She took a seat on the second row, not bothering to say hello to anyone. Besides, all of them seemed to be engaged in their own conversations.
She placed her bag on her lap, and took out a notebook. She then read the board, and wrote in small letters Animagi. Usually she would take this time to do homework for the next classes, but this was the first class. Instead, she just tapped her pencil on the pages of her notebook, waiting for the class to start.

Time: 8:00 AM -- Any student after post will be marked late: NO SHOW -- Miss Tollringer, Excused
“Fir-fir-fir... First you want him to talk about it, then it’s be quiet? Aw, c’mon. You’re saying take it into the hallway, if you mean take Him into the hall and settle this? I wouldn’t complain, teach. But-that would not be behavior becoming to a hall monitor. So I’ll pass. three and a half minutes, now.”
Thus began the little turmoil fight between Hall Monitor and Student. Clearing his throat right as Miss Leto entered the room right as the bell rang from the belfries, Tobias cleared his throat and immediately headed over to the students' desks. "You all are to be a class...of juniors...correct? Well...if you're juniors, then I'd hate to see what you'll be as seniors!" Tobias began, his voice quite irritated as he looked to Ward and Ferris. "Especially you two...You've got one year with me unless you decide to drop and then I'll likely see you two around campus next year as you become the senior class for this Institute. Now, tell me boys, why with the idle threats? Mister Ferris, shoving it up... Not pleasant in my books nor it is proper for a gentleman, I would perceive."
Looking towards Braxton, Tobias stared at him with the equal look of venom in his tone. "As for you, Mr. Ward, you may be of my house and of course you're a Quidditch star, but I do not approve of a Hall Monitor making the ideal threat of waiting until a class is over to deal with your issues amongst the two of you. If you continue this threat during the remainder of this class, points will be immediately deducted... Do...I...make...myself....clear?" Tobias stated, his eyes narrowed to both students. Clearing his throat, Tobias headed back over to the board and tapped it. "Now... we'll begin the class of what I chose: Animagi. Open your books to page 320...now."

The book came out and thumped down on the desk. In the cranky way in which teenagers threw fits it was opened to the required page. Ward laid the sheet of paper upon which he had the idea of writing things which vaguely resembled class notes, and laid the writing instrument beside it. Not trusting anyone over thirty was one thing, but it seemed entirely evident that past forty and more fifty and in the extremes sixty and seventy was even more cause for deep seeded suspicion. He still had his stink-eye fixed on the old man; the book was open but he had little intent of reading it.
McPherson’s warning sailed high over the Merlin boy’s head. He didn’t know what the codger had in mind and presumed-as he usually did-that he had absolutely nothing in his mind and that he wanted to get over with class just as fast as every one of his students did. Most times he was just fine with that approach but now he felt between a rock and a hard place with Ferris on one side of him and McPherson on the other. Braxton looked at his peers: Vale was quiet, Lafayette was quiet, Sansotta was quiet. He didn’t know why this was, but he was unsatisfied all the same.
In a quick breath he said conclusively, “he oughtta apologize.”

"Very well, and you?"
Shrugging simply enough, he thought for a moment, wondering if there was an answer for such a question that would be more interesting to her than one word. "I'm alright, and in a good mood now that I'm in this class. No matter what Ferris' may believe, I've always been interested in Animagi," he answered after a moment, just loud enough for her to hear with the others talking on the other side of him. Giving her the tiniest grin in the attempt at a smile, he then looked back to see where the small debate was at.
He heard McPherson announce the page in their books to open up to, and he glanced over to Ward as the book was thrown down, followed by the muttered voice. He didn't quite care for an apology, especially from a worthless person like Ferris, but he knew Ward was just that type of guy. Loyal, he supposed, for lack of a better term.
Letting out a sigh, Zeek shook his head slightly and reached into his back pack, pulling out his book, parchment, a quill and a small bottle of ink. Setting it all onto his desk, he opened his book up to page 320 and uncapped the bottle of ink, dipping the quill into it before etching the title 'Animagi' onto the top of his parchment, though in somewhat messy writing.

"I'm alright, and in a good mood now that I'm in this class. No matter what Ferris' may believe, I've always been interested in Animagi,"
"So have I," Emma replied, smiling back at him in a more cheerful manner. It was an interesting subject for her, one she longed to study and even practice herself. She hadn't realized they would share that in common, though. It was a shame she hadn't found that out earlier. Even though their past year had been cut short, it was no excuse.
While Emma was glad she had Zeek as a pleasant distraction, it was hard not to listen to the fierce argument going on. They had really angered Professor McPherson. Braxton was only digging himself deeper, and Emma wished there was something she could do to get him to shut up. At least Sean had the common sense to do that, and although she knew Brax was right, she didn't want him in detention for it.
Thankfully the Professor cut it off by starting class, and Emma gratefully pulled out her book and opened it to the designated page. Leaning back over to retrieve some parchment as well as her quill, Emma sat forward, ready for a welcome lesson to replace the early confrontation. Her day had been going well, and she did not want it to take a sudden turn for the worse.
