Frank set his stack of syllabi at the edge of his desk, glancing around the room. The desks were put out nicely, each individual area cleaned up. It might not be that way for long, but Frank had always liked the first day of class. Smiling to himself, the music coming from his stereo playing softly to keep him going, Frank thought over his lesson for the day.
Frank enjoyed his more abstract lessons. The students often had good viewpoints to bring out and offer up a discussion. It also made him feel as if he was really doing something for them instead of just making sure that one knew what a pencil or microwave was. No, this way, he could even educate those who took his class for an easy grade. Yes, he wasn't stupid, he knew there were some muggleborn students who took his class just to pass by.
Moving back to his chair, Frank settled in to wait for his students. Class would begin in eight minutes. Swooshing the wand at the board, he hid what he had written up there until he took attendance and explained the syllabus. Then, let the games begin! Oh, right, seven minutes now.

Li Mei always liked muggle studies. Sure, she was muggle born, but it helped give her the perspective of wizards and witches born pureblood or halfblood in the wizarding world. She would have to learn how they acted to really be able to help them or defend them in court. Sometimes, people were just stupid when it came to dealing with other people. Although it wasn't a foolproff defense, it didn't make them seem guilty if they didn't know any better. Muggle studies for her was more of an observation class, although she did offer opinions on subjects, especially some of Mr. Pratt's more abstract lessons.
And this first day of class would probably be something that would inspire some thought. She always found teachers like Mr. Pratt would pick interesting topics to start off with and then slowly get to the more technical matters. It always made things more interesting in the beginning, but, to actually keep rapt attention one had to be sucked in at the beginning. She could say that Mr. Pratt was a genius, at least ciriculum wise. Opening the door to the class room, she heard some music in the background and instantly knew the teacher was in.
And there he was, at his desk, waiting for students to arrive. She was a tad bit early, but she wanted a good seat for the first day of class. Moving towards the front, she smiled at the professor. "Good afternoon Mr. Pratt," Li Mei said pleasantly, putting her parchment and quill down before taking a seat, arranging things on her desk just so before peering at the board. Ah! Yes, she was correct, an interesting lesson. "You've made an excellent choice for our first lesson," she noted, jotting the homework down at the top of the parchement so she wouldn't forget.

Muggle… Studies… What an interestingly boring subject, sometimes. Andy figured it was an easy O, which had proven correct for every year up until then. Especially if Pratt brought up something to do with transportation or engines or something he could use his hands on. The Vice Dean was always good about having things to tinker with.
Trying to smooth down his hair, having to stop and get a handful of water to do so, Andy finally arrived on the second floor. Stepping into the room, he made sure that his uniform looked nice and neat. No need to get a detention on the first day of Muggle Studies… Seeing Li Mei all ready there, he smirked. Of course…
“You’ve made an excellent choice for our first lesson.”
Rolling his eyes, Andy moved over and sat near the back. Slumping in the chair, he really wanted to get done with class and get on with something else like… practice or a game of football or… time with Felicity. That always made his day better. Unless her brother was involved… he was not getting along with Adrian Martin.
“Yes, Pratt is the best teacher ever. Didn’t you know that, Li Mei?” The sarcasm could almost be heard dripping from him. Seriously, could one get any more on their nose? Ah, well, perhaps he was just in a sour mood because he hadn’t slept well the night before. He had been trying to get down everything he would need for the big batch of love potion elixir he wanted to make, and by the time he pulled himself in to bed, it seemed like morning came.

Felicity had grabed a quick bite to eat before heading off to the student dorms. She had accidently left her book in her dorm when she rushed off to her meeting with her brother. She had felt she had been neglecting Adrian for the few days. When she got to her dorm she found her bag on her bed and checked to make sure she had her muggle studies book. It wasn't there... un oh where did she put it? She remembered she had it the otherday because she read up on microwaves after a conversation with Andy. She had cleaned up her room the night before because it had begun to get a bit messy. She tended to throw her clothes out of her closet as she tried to decide on what to wear, it was a bad habit she had snice she was a child. She finally found her book inside her closet after she tore apart her room and threw half her waredrobe out agian.
She then had to dig in the pile of clothes on her bed for her book bag. This caused her to head to the castle at a fast jog, thinking she was late. She had forgotten to wind her watch that day and she didn't bother to restart it, although it took a matter of seconds.
she stopped running just out side of the mugglestudies classroom and took a deep breath before opening the door and walking in quickly. She quickly scanned the room her face bright red and her breathing still a bit laborous. She quickly walked over to Andy in the back when she relized she was the thrid person. She wasn't late at all she was early!
She was about to sit down in her chair when she steped on her shoe lace. Instead of sitting down gracefully she ploped down in her seat, almost missing it.
(Pratt is the best teacher ever)

Muggle studies. Zan heard a lot and nothing about it. Her step-mother was a muggle-born, so she was familiar with the basics, but according to some students here at the Academy, the syllabus changed slightly and now it was all mixed up. They said Pratt works in a strange...muggle way. Pratt seemed like a boring person, Zan even heard he collects old light bulbs - the weird muggle equivalents of candles, or something like that.
Trying not to be late, Zan hopped into the classroom about four minutes before the actual class started. She was curious about the lesson as this was her first one ever with Pratt, but on the other hand she didn't like the fact of doing something completely unfamiliar in her Senior year. Especially now when she had to keep her grades excellent in order to get that recommendation from Blagden.
Lovely, another class with Mr. President and his lovely wannabe princess. Zan smirked at them and sat in the front, smiling at Pratt now. "Hello Professor Pratt. Firstly I would..." Then Zan stopped, seeing what was written across the board. Ethics! Man, this was great, this class will probably the easiest of all. And why did she think that they will only learn about batteries and stuff like that? "That actually looks like a very interesting lesson, Professor." It wasn't any form of sucking-up. Zan really thought that.

“Yes, Pratt is the best teacher ever. Didn’t you know that, Li Mei?”
Nodding at Mr. Parker, Frank smirked. “Of course I’m the best.” He had only a moment to let that settle in before Miss Martin made her way in. Watching her nearly trip, he stood up as if he could stop her. Shaking his head, he waved the wand at the stereo and turned it off.
“Hello Professor Pratt. Firstly I would…”
Turning around to look at the student, he nodded a greeting to Miss Penn. Both the President and Vice President in his class? Joy… Moving to lean against his desk, Frank pushed himself onto it and let his legs dangle. She seemed to be reading…
“That actually looks like a very interesting lesson, Professor.”
Nodding to her, Frank pulled his wand out and sent a syllabus to each student. “Glad you think so Miss Penn… Now, everyone’s attention, we’ll begin.” Now for the rules… “I don’t tolerate disrespect; point loss and possible detention for those who are heard. Missing class is not an option, neither is tardiness. Homework is to be turned in at the start of each class, and anything turned in after I’ve collected it is automatically ten perfect less.”
Glancing down at his little rules, he put his glasses on to read them better. “When tests come around, you’ll have a class period between knowing about it and having it. Quizzes I can give at any time. Uniforms are required, and anything else will result in point loss and detention.” That covered that… Glancing over his students, he finally smiled, fixing his robes and gently kicking his feet out while setting up his lesson plan papers. “Your first two lessons will be over Ethics. Your last two lessons will be over religion and philosophy.”
Setting his papers up in front of him on the podium, he remembered something… “Oh, if you ever need extra time for either help with understanding a topic or… whatever you need, a person to talk to, my office hours are nine to eleven in the morning. I can take walk ins during that time; any other time, please make an appointment.” Glancing at the chalkboard, Frank nodded, ready to begin.
“First off, welcome back to a new term, good to see familiar faces. Lesson 1, Ethics. If you want to use your textbook as a reference, we are in chapter five.” Turning a page over in front of him, he started in on it. “Homework is to be worked on in your own time, not during my lesson. What does ethics mean?” Glancing up, he looked around the room, finding his victim. “Miss Penn, you seemed very excited about the lesson. Tell us what you think ethics means.”

Felicity smiled at Andy and would have said hello, but the teacher had decided to speak. She turned her attetion away from her boy freind to focus on Mr. Pratt. She grabed the syllabus, just as it landed on her desk, skimming it breifly as he talked. It seemed intrasting, it would hep her in the future is she was able to understand how the muggle mind worked.
She placed her right elbow on the desk and proped her chin aganist the plam of her hand, watch Pratt as he went over the rules. The same rules she heard every year, all year long.
She removed her head from it's rest when Pratt mentioned pages in the book, she pulled out her copy and fliped to the page, praying that when he asked his uneviodable questions his gaze wouldn't fall on her. She let out a breath, she didn't know she was holding in, when he called on Zan.
