The Energy of Stars was one of Layla's favorite topics to talk about. She liked the way it sounded. Saying that stars had energy made it seem like Stars were living, real things - and to Layla, they were. This topic made stars seem so much more real, and Layla adored it.
Her love for astrology made the subject more appealing to the students; at least, Layla liked to think so. When a teacher didn't adore the subject matter, their lessons seemed to be drab and uninviting. Layla spoke in such a manner that her lessons all ended up being exciting and intriguing.
Maybe that's why Layla got along so well with her students. They liked her, and she liked listening to them as well. People were almost as fascinating as stars; they had different personalities, different looks. Like stars, they each had different moments to shine.

Bridget loved Astronomy. It was one of her favourite subjects, and she never minded that it was at one o'clock in the morning when she should, by right, have been in bed. It was also the one she was best at, mainly because she liked it so much.
"Hello, Ms Daystar," Bridget chirped as she entered the classroom. She was the first to arrive. Just the way she liked it.
Bridget sat down near the front and read the writing on the board. Energy of stars. That topic was fascinating, Bridget had read a book on it during the long break. It had been from a Muggle perspective, though. Wizarding astronomy was more interesting, Bridget always found, but there was no way Muggles could make it anywhere close to dull.

Habits were funny things to work with sometimes. For instance, sleeping at night after a rigorous day of physical training could become commonplace within a few days. Waking up at one o’clock in the morning to go to a class that the rest of the world taught during business hours was not so easy to get used to. Still half asleep, Braxton tripped and nearly fell on his face as he crossed the threshold into the classroom. For a moment he was walking on two legs and a hand, and didn’t recover entirely until he pulled himself into a seat. His head was slouching down and his arms hung like wet socks on a line.
“Good evening... Morning? Hello, Miss Daystar.” Daystar was his favorite teacher at the school by far, simply for the fact that he could detect a little Boston accent on her voice, like his own. She probably didn’t know who Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Wade Boggs, or Roger Clemens were, but some things just had to slide with these people. The similarity in their voices was enough to have won him over two years ago. Half the class sessions, also, did not have to do with wands, unicorns, bubbles, bubbles, toils, or troubles. He pulled a black and white speckled notebook from his bag and a Bic ballpoint pen, looking the role of a good student albeit with only one eye open.

One o'clock in the morning? Who in the right mind would make a class at one o'clock in the morning? She completely forgot about this class thinking that Defensive magic was her last class at four in the afternoon. She even had her pajamas on, and she was sitting in her room just lying in her bed. It wasn't until 12:30 when she realized that she actually had another class. Well, technically, Defensive magic was her last class of the day since this class was taking place after twelve, but she wasn't looking at it like that. She quickly changed back into the stupid uniform, and made her way to class.
Dakota flattened the black skirt since it was wrinkly from being thrown into a pile. She yawned as she walked into the classroom. She gave a rather lame wave, covering her mouth as she yawned. She put her books down on the desk, and went through her small bag for a pencil. There was none. Not caring much, she put her head down on the desk and closed her eyes. She opened them again to look at the bored which made her annoyed since there was more homework. Not caring about that much also, she put her head down on the desk, and waited for more people to come in.

Lerena made her way towards her astronomy class probably her most loved class of all. She loved the stars, always thought that it would be an amazing achievement to one day live in space. Countless constellations, countless possibilities and she was completely amazed by it no matter which way it was layed out before her.
Walking into the classroom she was slightly surprised at the lack of students in there, then again it was 1am. Taking a seat near the front row she had a wide smile on her face, eager to learn todays lesson. Setting her book bag by her chair she turned and settled herself to were she was looking at the door. Lerena wandered when the others would get there, or if some would just skip after all it was really early in the morning.

While Emma enjoyed the Astronomy class, something had to be said against it's late night schedule. How anyone was supposed to get enough sleep for the next day's classes while having a class at one o'clock in the morning was simply beyond her. Surely the class could have taken place at eight, even nine, and it would still be as efficient, perhaps even more so than at one o'clock.
Either way, Emma knew she had no say in it, and even if she did petition the professor or the headmistress, it would take weeks, months to make a change. Yet Emma had to view it as a challenge of her own determination to her studies, otherwise she could drown herself in complaints and woe.
Taking a seat next to Lerena, Emma only offered a half-cheerful, "Good morning, Professor" rather than her usual warm greeting. It wasn't quite the spiteful action she wanted to take, but Emma enjoyed the class, and the professor, far too much to take her complaints out on Professor Daystar.

Caedmon had found it surprisingly easily to wake up in time to go to his Astronomy class. Despite this fact though he had been sourly tempted to show up in his pj's. However he had chosen better and was now attired appropriately as he entered the class. Noting that Lerena seamed to be watching the door, he gave her a small wave and a rare smile. He made his way over to a vacant chair near the window. Yawning lightly he turned his attention to the board. Oh great, he though as he saw what was for homework. Even more writing, oh joy... Sighing dishearteningly now, he settled into his chair and waited for class to start.

((Oh you are all such whiners )) Sean jogged up the stairs, a ridiculously wide smile on his face. He was hyper then hell, if that was a reasonable comparison. Seemed to make sense at the moment. Every time he had Astrology, he would down three or four cups of coffee in the common room and skip all the way to the fourth floor in a state of euphoria on acid. It was a gift that had been bestowed on the students once it became obvious that they were skipping class in favor of sleep. Of course, why the administration didn't just push the classes to earlier in the evening instead of hooking their students on stimulates was beyond him at the particular moment. He looked it too. His shirt was untucked, the first several buttons undone to show his undershirt, his robes were falling off his shoulders and only kept on by the constant movement of his arms. His hair kept falling his his eyes, but he was simply to whacked out to push it back, so he kept doing a strange sort of hair flip that looked like a model with turrets. Yes, Sean was a bit... neurotic in a strangely attractive way, in the wee morning hours if he didn't say so himself. Upon entering the classroom, he gave the Astronomy teacher a somewhat manic grin. "Morning Ms, Daystar! Must say you look lovely! I don't know how you manage it at these ungodly hours!" He turned down the rows and looked at his fellow prisoners. Weren't they looking chipper. He glanced around for his usual fan base. Emma was there, although she could hardly be called a groupy. And Dakota in her infinite quietness was looking a bit... unhappy. There was a dull looking Braxton and a daydreamy Caedmon, though Sean paid them little mind. His eyes focused on the two pretty little things in the front. A chair was empty between them. Perfect. Strolling over, he fell into the well worn seat and put his hands behind his head. Giving a smile to Bridget and a wink to Lerena, he smiled almost crazily. "Nothing better then looking at the beautiful sky then doing it with beautiful company!"

Elaina had been drawing and hadn't realized that it was as close to time for Astronomy as it was. She had to rush to get up there. The way up to the astronomy room was a lon walk because she was about ten times more tired that she would be going to a different class. When Elaina finally reached the room she wasn't sure that she really wanted to go in.
After deciding that it wasn't worth a bad grade, Elaina walked into the room. She looked for a seat next to Emma, but unfortunately didn't see one. Elaina nodded a hello to the professor and went to take a seat in the back. That way she would be very much alone, and she would be able to concentrate better.
Elaina read over the writting on the board and smiled. Even more homework. She wrote the assignment down on her sketch book and leaned back in her chair.

Brilliant; the students were starting to arrive. As she might've guessed, the first student to arrive was a Ptolemy student. Being the head of the Ptolemy house was no burden whatsoever; actually, she was very proud of the members of her house. They were respectful and studious -- just the kind of people that Layla liked to associate herself with. While she wished that some of them were a bit more out-going and exciting, she still glorified the house.
"Hello there, Bridget!" Layla chirped. Since her class was the earliest -- or the latest, depending on how you looked at it -- Layla had to remain upbeat at every moment. Seeing as nighttime was the time that Layla thrived, it was simple. It was particularly important to be awake during this lesson. After all, it was about the energy of stars.
The next to walk in was the super-jock, Braxton Ward. He seemed very sleepy, and Layla smirked. "Sleepy, Braxton?" She inquired cheerfully. "No doubt staying up late studying." Layla winked. More like staying up practicing his sports or working out.
It seemed like every person who walked into the room was exhausted. The next student to walk in, Dakota, was yawning and didn't even speak. She looked very dissheveled. Still, Layla should've guessed that the students would be exhausted, considering that it was the first week of school.
Lerena, however, looked wide awake. "Might want to spread the enthusiasm to your fellow classmates, Lerena," Layla joked with a grin, gestering with her eyes to the people around her who were either yawning, putting their heads on their desk, or some other obvious way of showing that they were in desperate need of sleep.
"Hello there, Emma," Layla greeted. She'd had a run-in with Miss Vale in the entrance hallway, while she'd been passing out daisies. They hadn't spoken for long, but Emma was one of the first of her students that she'd encountered since the extended summer break.
Layla headed back to her desk, flouncing around like a fairy. She was extremely excited to be surrounded by students. Sure, some of them were about to be in a slight coma, but they would unequivocally be interested in the lesson soon enough. Obviously, Layla was overjoyed to get back to work.
Sean Ferris walked into the classroom with the attitude of a bubbly cauldron. He was overzealous and chock-full of compliments. Layla smiled modestly in response to Sean's flattery. "Thank you, Sean," she answered. Some of the students were very desperate to please. Buttering-up was expected every year from at least one student.

Of course of all the people to sit next to her Sean plopped down right in between her and Bridget. Now don't Lerena wrong she didn't have a problem with Sean, but she really didn't like to be flirted with at all times. She just couldn't see how somebody could just flirt with anybody and not have some sort of loyalty complex for it. After all she would of liked to have gotten to know Bridget a little better but that would have to wait for now.
Smiling to her teacher she nodded, "I would like to mam but I have no idea how that would prove functional." She meant it more as a rhetorical answer than anything else but for some reason it came out with a tint of humor.
Lerena had caught Caedmon's smile at her when he walked in and just that simple gesture brought a smile to her face as she glanced to wards him and past the pestering Sean. If she had a choice between the company of Sean and Caedmon she would choose Caedmon because she knew that at least she wouldn't be flirted with as much. Lerena didn't hate Sean, far from it she just became annoyed with him easily, honestly who would want to be known as just another groupie to some popular guy? Looking back to her teacher she awaited their instructions, anything that could get her and everyone else's attention away from each other.

Ezekiel's eyes tensed in his sleep as he fought to remain at rest at 12:17 that morning, though the young owl he kept with him in his dorm room decided her owner needed a reminding of her being let out for the night. As she walked around and partially waddled over his blanketed form, her talons dug into the covers to give her some sort of balance as she screeched lightly at him. It wasn't long at all with such a rude awakening that Zeek got up and opened the small window that his room had peaking over the grounds, letting her out to stretch her wings, then re-closing it as she disappeared.
Letting out a brief yawn, he rubbed at his eyes and looked around the dark room, then got to changing into his black slacks, a long sleeve, dark green turtleneck, shoes, and took leave from the room with his bag over his shoulder and his robe over one arm. By the time he woke up more, his usual insanely late mood had begun to take shape. One thing many people never knew about Zeek was that when he was awake at this time of day, his mood was quite positive, he was even known to smile. Though when he'd go back to sleep and reawaken at the proper morning time, he never really seemed to remember being too happy-go-lucky.
Anyhow, as he trotted along through the hall to the classroom after running up the many stairs, he took a deep breath to let his lungs catch up with him briefly, then opened the door and worked to finally pull his other robe sleeve on. Bringing his hand up to scratch at the back of his head as he looked over the many peers already there, his hair seemed to fall easily back into place.
It was a minute or so of looking around for a suitable seat for the eventful class, walking past some desks slowly, before he took a seat on whim, next to his housemate, Vale. She was looking happy like usual, awake enough, and she was a fair enough distance away from Ferris to be comfortable for him to join her. Even if she rather have had the seats by her unoccupied, he set his bag down and looked to the professor, actually offering a greeting, "Having classes in the great hours of darkness like this should prove to be invigorating. Good night and morning, Professor." He gave an approving nod, then looked to Vale, giving her one of his rare as ever smiles. Surprisingly enough for a guy like himself, he appeared attractive when in moods like this. "And good morning to you, Miss Vale."

As Elaina walked in the classroom, Emma gave a small wave before her friend found a seat in the back. She couldn't blame the girl for being in such a hum-drum state, most of them were about to enter a zombie state for the next two hours. Still she tried to be agreeable enough.
Twisting back around in her seat, Emma's only safety line from falling into the black oblivion of zoning out was the Professor. Returning the friendly smile, Emma merely propped her elbow on the table, resting her head in her hand. If she wasn't too careful, Emma would easily fall asleep, but it just felt so good.
An unusually perky voice grabbed her attention, though. Sean had already come in, and she couldn't imagine anyone else who might enjoy a class at one in the morning. Straightening herself back up, Emma was surprised to find Zeek sitting beside her, and a smiling Zeek at that!
"And good morning to you, Miss Vale."
"Good morning, Mr. Lafayette," Emma replied, half-shocked to see him so agreeble looking. "You're certainly quite chipper this morning," she added, confused as to whether he had cast a cheering charm on himself or merely took a good potion to drive away the late-night blues.

Finished settling in Caedmon began pulling out his supplies for class. The instant he was done and had arranged his things to his liking, he turned to page ten and began reading over the questions. Trying to decide upon which question he would use, he listened nonchalantly to what was being said around him. When he heard their teacher began to talk however, he immediately and courteously gave her his full attention. Listening, he soon realized she was greeting every student that had come in so far, giving each a gift of a few words meant just for them. Well, everyone but him at least, but he had gotten used to that some time ago. He still could not help but wonder on occasion if his teachers would really notice if, for some reason or another, he didn’t show up to class one day.
Still waiting for class to began, Cae decided to glance about the room once more. Doing so, he was a little surprised to see Lerena returning his smile. Well, as unexpected as it was, it managed to perk him up a little, putting him in a better mood. Smiling, just because now; he moved to continue pondering his homework.

"Good morning, Mr. Lafayette. You're certainly quite chipper this morning."
"What can I say, I guess I just like night time better than day. Too bright and tiresome I suppose. Are you not fully awake yourself?" Zeek spoke someone quickly, though not in a manner to rush her so much as that he had a good amount of energy built up inside. Smiling warmly though, he folded his arms over the table, definitely out of his normal way of acting as he surprisingly continued, though in a more hushed tone for the teacher to not overhear. "If you're tired and think you'll fall asleep, lean toward me and I'll nudge you if you start falling. So you don't get caught."
It may have seemed rather straight forward, but he honestly would have hated for Vale to get in trouble for simply being tired. And besides, he was willing to assist her in staying awake and aware if needed, though it didn't hurt to offer. Laughing, even, he smiled more, adding more jokingly, "And if you really are too tired by the class's end, I'd be honored to carry you're things back to Agrippa when we head back later."

"What can I say, I guess I just like night time better than day. Too bright and tiresome I suppose. Are you not fully awake yourself?
Laughing softly at his bright response, Emma could hardly respond in any less enthusiastic manner. "Unfortunately I cannot claim the same level of alertness, but I have to agree in liking the night far more than the day," she spouted back, giving him a playful smile. Who knew Zeek could be fun as well, and although Emma would rather appreciate the new side when she wasn't as sleep deprived, she still was delighted to see it existed at all.
"If you're tired and think you'll fall asleep, lean toward me and I'll nudge you if you start falling. So you don't get caught. And if you really are too tired by the class's end, I'd be honored to carry you're things back to Agrippa when we head back later."
"Thanks, I might have to take you up on that later," Emma replied, knowing the event would be inevitable as the class wore on. There was that honoring again; so it was an honor to carry her things? Such a courtesy was rarely offered, let alone thought to be an honor. The night surely did crazy things to people, Zeek being a prime example. "Although you might end up carrying me back to the dorms at this rate," she added, giving him a teasing smile.

"Thanks, I might have to take you up on that later...Although you might end up carrying me back to the dorms at this rate."
Raising his brows in surprise as she seemed to accept the offer quite willingly instead of say, telling him off, he grinned in a slightly sheepish manner. "Well then," he looked to the teacher to be sure it was when she was busy looking away before he leaned to the side to whisper a bit more quietly. "I'll be sure to be gentle and not wake you for such travels. Though I'm not as able enter the girl's half of Agrippa as you're able to enter the boy's side. And if you're asleep by the time we reach there, I may just have to lay you to rest in the student lounge and keep watch over you until morning so no one tries to pull anything."
He was still a gentleman, though he seemed to think that speaking of such things as being alone with a female, especially one he held such an interest in, was to be spoken of in a hushed tone. For all he knew, the little that he'd said was still too straight-forward, and he hoped she wouldn't slap him for so much as mentioning his inability to enter the girl's dorms, not that he saw a need for it.

Sometimes Emma believed that all boys were stupid and immature, other times they were likeable enough. Emma wasn't quite sure when it happened, but at some point in time a fairy godmother must have overheard her thoughts and created a magical prince that fulfilled all her most defeated hopes for the male race. How else could Emma explain what Zeek just offered?
"T-thank you," Emma replied, not quite sure what to say. So he would just lay her in the student lounge and keep watch? Any other guy Emma knew would have offered to let her sleepover in their room instead. But not Zeek. Emma could have let out an audible 'aw' at the gesture, but instead she just grinned back at him with an incredulous look in her eyes. She had heard of gentlemen, but they belonged in fairy tales, not in the real world, let alone at SWIM.
"But you aren't helping keep me awake, because I know I must be dreaming now," she added teasingly, not able to keep her wonder to herself. Guys weren't like that, not one bit. She had to be dreaming to be treated in such a manner.

Tori barely got excited about going to class, but today was different. She loved staying up late, and if the excuse was because she had class, it was even better. She found it very easy to stay up late. Well, the two cups of coffee might have helped, but still. On another plus side, the professor wasn't a total fool, except her perky attitude could get on her nerves sometimes. The professor wasn't nearly as bad as Miss Binns. The thought of that lady made her want to run and hide.
Tori jumped off her bed ten minutes before one, and headed to the astronomy classroom with a small black bag at her side. She entered the classroom, and gave a smile to the professor. She smiled slightly at a few people as she passed them. She took a seat on the second row to the far side of the room. Wishing she drank that third cup of coffee, she yawned. She shook it off, and managed to keep her eyes open.
Tori took a look at the board until her eyes rested on the homework. She took out her book, and opened to page ten. She ran her finger down the page until a list of ten questions came up. She read each question, and then decided on the easiest one. She ripped out a piece of paper, folded it in half, placed it in page ten, and closed the book. That way, she would remember that she had homework. She placed the book back in her bag, and rubbed her eyes.

While Leilani was tolerant and patient with most things, but waking up in the wee hours of the morning to look at floating gas balls was pushing it even for her.
Being a natural early riser, she needed her sleep. How in the world did the professors expect her to be attentive in class if she was up all night studying a constellation? It just didn't make since to her.
But despite that, here she was, walking to Astronomy as if sleep walking. In a way she was, with her hair piled on her head in a rushed bin and her uniform wrinkled and disheveled. Her eyelids were half closed, causing her to bump into various objects on the way up.
Usually Leilani would be very self-conscious about her less than satisfactory appearance. but she could have been wearing a purple bath robe and some ballerina slippers for all she cared. She simply walked in the class, not noticing or caring whether half of her classmates had beaten her there, and took her usual seat in the back.
Now, if only she had a pillow at hand.
