Monday 4th August – 4.00 – 6.00PM Esther watched the seniors file out and when they’d finally left, she turned her back on the empty classroom to point her wand at the chalk board and all the notes from the lesson vanished in a puff of smoke. She then summoned a piece of white chalk towards her, and began to scribble on the board while singing softly to herself. The next class in would be the Juniors, a somewhat larger group than her last one. And due to the fact they were a larger group, the lesson would probably prove more interesting coming to the end as she was leaving it for an open discussion. The notes were completed and Esther threw her chalk onto her desk before once more, wiping her chalk covered hands on her already chalky black shirt. Well she was always covered in something from the classroom, so why not let it be her most used item? She straightened her orange blouse while her eyes scanned the board, proof reading everything. Yes, perfect. [li]To find what is remembered from last year? [/li][li]To see what you think a werewolf is [/li][li]To gain a further knowledge of werewolves [/li][li]Should they be allowed in society? [/li][/ul] Homework - Your opinion – A one thousand word essay on whether you believe werewolves should be allowed in society – give reasons
Spinning around on the spot, the different necklaces she wore hit each other making odd noises as the small shells collided with the black beads, the golden chain tangled itself around them all. She stepped around her desk and picked up the large sketch of a werewolf she’d copied from the text book. She then walked back towards the board, the sound of her black heeled shoes echoing around the room as they made contact with the stone floor. The sketch was soon attached to the board and Esther was moving to the front of her messy desk. Once at the front of it, she pushed the various parchments and empty goblets and cups back so she could perch on the end of the desk, awaiting the arrival of the first few students. After all, they did know what would await them if they turned up late or not at all. Esther did love to torture those that dare that.

Sean sighed as he got to the fourth floor, pausing on his trek to the Defensive Magic classroom to look out at the Quidditch pitch in the distance. Quidditch hadn't started yet and he was desperate to get back on the field. If he had his broom right then, he would have skivved off Defensive magic to go and just pretend to play in the fields. He hated Defensive magic. He just was so bad at it, and he hated looking like an idiot. He just hoped they wouldn't be practicing dueling today. If they were, he hoped he got paired with someone else pathetic. At least then he would have a chance.
Breaking away from the window with a sigh, he shoved his hands into his pockets and aimed himself for Boothroyds classroom. Upon entering the classroom, his eyes immediately fell onto the writing on the board. His eyes lit up when he saw what they would be studying. Werewolves... now that was something he enjoyed. They were animals, so it was in his area of expertise. Maybe this class wouldn't be so bad.
He gave the tall figure of the teacher a polite nod of greeting as he made his way to the middle of the room. Flopping down into a chair he stared up at the ceiling. He hoped someone, preferably someone cute, would come in soon. He hated uncomfortable small talk with teachers.

Dakota sighed as she made her way to Defensive Magic classroom. She actually had a smile on as she walked to the classroom, and no it wasn't because she liked the class. It was because it was the last class of the day. There would be no more having to listen to teachers talk after this class until tomorrow when it all started over again. Pushing her hair behind her ears she walked into the classroom.
She smiled at the teacher, and then gave a smile to Sean. Looking around, she saw that no one else was in there. There was something wrong with her for she had been early to every class that day. That wasn't like her. As she made her way to a seat, she read the bored. Her expression changed when she read the homework. Sitting down on the seat, she made up her mind that she would probably do the essay in the class before this one the day it was due.
She couldn't help but smile when she read the bored completely. First it said 'welcome back' then it said the stupid homework. Yea...welcome back.

Nobody cute was coming, only Braxton Ward. “Good evening Ms. Boothroyd.”
The unthinkable had been happening for the past several moths: Braxton had been considering the possibility of giving a genuine effort in Defensive Magic. The attack, and the ineffable terror it had implanted in him, made him consider that the time had come for him to learn how to use his wand. That he’d been given the role of hall monitor weighed the scales even more. It was not a promise to his maker, more of a new year’s resolution, but all the same Braxton had the attention and concentration on the first day of class that year. It was a tremendous disappointment when he saw that the topic was werewolves.
Bootheroyd was another of the school’s cracker-jack duelist professors. In Ward’s muddled mind a duelist was like a soldier, or a boxer without muscles and potentially two X chromosomes. It made an impression on him, the first of which was all wizards were violent and confrontational. The second was that wizards didn’t know anything about education. The third had come in light of the attacks: that the school had been staffed with duelists because the Dean had known long in advance, criminally so, that the school was going to be attacked.
Ward took the seat closest to the door and dropped his pack on the floor. He slunk into a chair and slowly read the remainder of the instructions. With a mixture of idle indifference and direct challenge he said aloud, “What’s remembered from last year: that it’s never OK to let your guard down-even when you sleep.”

Finally after climbing all those stairs Lorena began to think that havening a class on the fourth floor was going to defiantly keep her shape. Coming up towards the classroom she made her way inside seeing a few other's there as well. Pausing a moment in the door way she looked over the various things in the classroom as her eyes fell on the board and read threw it. Werewolves, it seemed interesting enough yet sort of disturbing at the same time which seemed to further her interest in it.
Lerena's eyes had caught sight of Braxton, generally because he had set right by the door but she continued on and took a seat three rows away from the front. Beside the fact that she rather preferred this class over a few of her others she was more than prepared to learn todays lesson. Though she caught an ominous feeling from the teacher sitting on her desk with a rather interesting expression on her face, Lerena didn't even wish to ponder what was on her mind. Taking out a spiral she jotted down the chalkboard notes and then sighed when she got to the homework part. A thousand word essay.....that one little thing alone made her began to question this class.

Quick stepping it, Caedmon climbed the stares to the forth floor, two at a time. Once reaching the forth floor, his pace slowed to be a bit more leisurely as he allowed himself a moment to catch his breath. Looking about thoughtfully, he scanned the various doors aligning the hall way, searching for his appointed class.
As he silently made his way down the corridor, his sight soon alighted on the appropriate room. Adjusting his pack subconsciously, he adjusted his path appropriately. Within a few short seconds he reached the door and entered the class room. Pausing he looked about, as he always did in each class on the first day. He noticed that there where only three other students there before him. Nodding approvingly at this fact, he cast a glance to the teacher, gave her a thoughtfully look, then moved toward the center of the room.
Thoughtfully he chose a seat in the second row, just in front of one of the girls, and sat, allowing his bag to slip to the floor and with an audible thud. It was then he chanced to look to the board in front. Scanning over it quickly, he frowned as he came to the last part. Caedmon never was much for writing a lot, and this class would do nothing to change that.

Elaina was lucky enough to get to the room in time. She was really cutting it close, but she got there. She walked through the doorway and looked around immediately to see who all was in there. No one special really caught her attention right off the bat, so she decided to walk over to Sean. She knew him the best out of all of the other people in there, and that wasn't saying much.
As she set her shoulder bag in a chair, she read the board. Elaina could have almost guessed that Boothroyd would be the one to give them homework. She sighed and moved her bag as she sat down. Elaina rummaged through a few things to just make sure that she had everything and pulled her wand out, laying it gently on her lap.
Werewolves would definitely be an interesting topic to try out. Even though werewolves were not her expertise... she knew that there was nothing that she couldn't find in a book. That was what made reading so enjoyable to her.

Yet again, Bridget was not the first to arrive to a class. It had been happening all day, and she was staring to get used to it. It wasn't like she ever came in late, but she liked to get there before anyone.
One of the reasons for this was that she never knew, when she came in after people, where she should sit. Bridget didn't wat to sit with someone who didn't want her there, and she didn't want the stupid situation where someone gets hurt she didn't sit next to them. Teenagers could be so petty.
She decided, for once, not to sit with Sean. Instead she opted for someone in her house, Caedmon Quencai. They weren't exactly friends, but they'd spoken one or twce. Plus, he wasn't anywhere near Braxton or Sean, the former of which she didn't like and the latter, well, he gave her a funny jumpy feeling that she really didn't want right then. It confused her.
"Hey, Caedmon," he said when she sat down. She glanced at the board. "So, um... Werewolves, hey?"

Caedmon had just pulled out a note book and his wand from his back pack. Setting them down carefully, he made certain to catch a few of the thorns of his wand on the notebook so as to prevent it from rolling off. He next leaned over to rummage for a pen. It was at that point that Bridget greeted him. Sitting up and nodded a polite hello to her, laying his pen with the rest of his things. “Hello” He replied softly, then looked to the board, nodding again. “That and a bit of writing too... at least it is opinion based.” This he said in a tired tone, not looking forward to the assignment. Looking back to Bridget he gave her a curious look and glanced to Sean and back. He was obviously curious as to why she hadn’t sat with the guy as she normally would, but he chose to hold his tongue about it.

Although the 'new classes' adrenaline was beginning to wear off, Emma found she still looked forward to the Defensive Magic class. It always was a sure bet for an interesting time, especially with Professor Boothroyd. Making she she wasn't late, Emma hurried up the stairs to reach the classroom. She knew exactly what would happen if she were even half a second late.
It seemed she wasn't the only one ready to begin class, the room held a large number of students already there including Braxton of all people. Smiling as she entered the room, Emma merely gave a polite nod of greetings to the Professor before taking a seat next to Elaina. "Hey," she whispered, not sure whether they'd have time to even exchange a greeting before the class began.

Sean didn't look up when Elaina sat down, not because he was ignoring her, he would never do that, but because for once in his 16 years, Sean was engrossed in his school book. Not only was this a bit of history in the literary world, Sean Ferris reading a book, but one in an educational view as well. Most of his teachers had tried and failed to get him to read. But werewolves were just too fascinating. They intrigued him almost, almost, as much as Dragons did.
It wasn't until Emma said "Hey" that Sean looked up to see he was surrounded by two of his favorite lovely brunettes. Placing a finger on the textbook page to hold his place, Sean grinned at them both. "Hey..." he said, a heavy tint of flirtatiousness to his voice. "... Can't believe it, but I didn't see you there..."

"Hey"
Elaina turned to see Emma there. She grinned at her friend, "Hey there ,Emma!" she said in a cheerful tone. "We need to talk sometime in the common room. I want to know about your classes." Elaina knew that she shared some classes with Emma, but it was nice to know how the classes were going from someone else's point of view.
"... Can't believe it, but I didn't see you there..."
Elaina pulled out her book and placed it on her desk as she positoned herself to where she could see both Sean and Emma. Elaina smile at Sean, "Really? It's good to see that you're actually reading something... as little reading I see you doing it would almost seem like you were illiterate." she said jokingly, adding a wink so that he didn't think that she was being serious when she said that.

"Hey there, Emma! We need to talk sometime in the common room. I want to know about your classes."
"Sure, we can talk after class," Emma replied, raising her voice to little over a whisper. Leaning over to pull her books out of her bag, Emma stacked them neatly in front of her, along with her parchment and quill. Although not much was scheduled for the day according to the board, Emma wasn't sure Professor Boothroyd planned to lecture or not. Either way, Emma wanted to be prepared.
"... Can't believe it, but I didn't see you there..."
"Really? It's good to see that you're actually reading something... as little reading I see you doing it would almost seem like you were illiterate."
"That is hard to believe, Ferris," Emma replied with a grin. It almost made her feel less of a woman, knowing that Ferris usually picked up on the first hint of estrogen. Of course she wasn't one of his usual groupies, choosing not to fawn over his good looks like most of the girls. "But take it easy on him, Elaina," she added with a wink, "We should encourage his reading as much as possible."

It had seemed like the stairs had no end before the fourth floor was finally coming into view for Zeek, though he was grateful as he was once more reunited with the span of flat flooring once more, even if it had left him slightly tired. It had been a long day otherwise, and since he wasn't quite used to school life again just yet, the long day was easily wearing down on him. Though as he did his best to brush away the idea of admitting to fatigue, he walked the distance from the stairs to the door to class.
As it creaked open, Zeek brought a hand up to cover his mouth as a small yawn escaped, having been taught to do so by his mother for some strange idea of manners. Turning partially to close the door back up behind him, he then walked along through the space between the desks and took a seat at on unoccupied one near the front, sliding his bag down his arm to the floor more lazily than usual. When he'd at least brought himself to scoot his chair in though, he even leaned forward on folded arms and stared off at the board quietly, reading through the notes on the board.
Werewolves.. He'd been looking forward to using his wand in class, though at least the subject wasn't a dull one. He'd would have hated the idea of incidentally falling asleep during class hours and being scolded. As he read through to the bottom of the board and saw the assignment, he was sure to make a mental note of it. It seemed easy enough a choice for the side he would write about being on, so maybe he would write it later on in the day to kill thirty minutes or so of time.

Esther had picked her notes up and was scanning over them as the students came in. A few good mornings from the small amount of polite students in the class and a few nods. Esther simply smiled over the parchment and kicked her dangling legs against the desk. The chatter of the students was soon putting her off and Esther placed the notes down on the desk before pushing herself off it and standing in front of the desk, ready to address the students.
“Cut the chat and perhaps you shall not be remaining here after my lesson.” She said loudly and clearly. Now she was prepared to get down to business. “Had a nice holiday everyone?” without waiting for an answer, the professor continued at a quick pace. “Good.” She smiled warmly and began to walk up the rows of desks. “Now tidy yourselves up, you know what happens about uniform.” She snapped, walking quickly, looking down at each student.
She surveyed the class slowly and smiled. “Everyone is here. Fabulous. Now we’ve all had a nice long holiday, you have all probably received a culture shock being thrown back into the school after time off relaxing. That however doesn’t mean you can slack off now. You’ve had all day to acclimatise and so we shall be jumping back on the dragon’s back with the topic of Werewolves.” As Esther said this, she’d moved back to the front of the room and finally span around to face the class once more.
“Before that however, I want to know if you’re brains can still hold the information I fed them last year.” Esther then span around to face the chalk board and flicked her wand casually at it. Suddenly, under the aims, ten questions appeared. “So five house points for the first to answer these questions on their parchment. I’ll take raised hands when you’ve finished, you’ll only lose points if you shout out.”

1) It’s a british term for a homosexual person. 2) The same form as everyone else. 3) In England they call them ‘flats’ and not apartments. 4) That’s not very tolerant. 5) Practice, good game plan, physical training, concentration, wash your hands and get eight hours of sleep. 6) Dogs 7) It makes someone do a stutter step 8) a wizard 9) zero 10) It cuts something
Anytime he could answer questions so easily in one of his classes he had to be suspicious. Looking at his answers they all made sense to him, given the questions. The contradiction lay between the boy and everyone else in the world that considered themselves a witch or wizard; they rarely agreed. It was a poor blessing to know that you were probably wrong whenever you felt confident, and that feeling completely uncertain was no assurance of the opposite. Braxton sighed-in the end he would only be able to play as good as his schedule allowed and from that fact there could be no hiding. With his parchment filled out, he raised his hand.

Sean only chuckled when Elaina and Emma teased him about reading. Ok so he wasn't the brightest bulb in the lamp, but he got by. Besides, that is why he surrounded himself with intelligent and beautiful women, so he had all the homework help he could need and a nice a view to go with it. It just happened that today he was actually interested in the subject.
“Before that however, I want to know if you’re brains can still hold the information I fed them last year.”
Sean finally glanced up from the text to see the teacher handing what seemed to be a quiz. When one was handed to him, he took one look at the questions and attempted to suppress a groan. He remembered another reason he hated this class. What is her favorite number? How the hell should I know that? WHY the hell should I know that??? Sean mentally groaned. This teacher was crazy. Not only did she hand out a pop quiz on the first day, but it was on things they possibly couldn't know! Muttering inaudibly under his breath, Sean began to scribble down the first things that came to mind.
Sean only had a slight idea on half of them, and those he wasn't sure of. Go figure she would do this to him after luring him in with the promise of werewolves. As his eyes landed on the last question, he paused. Diffindo.... Diffindo... I know this one... Sean thought as he mimiced what he thought was the wand movement with his wand as he did so. It wasn't until the sharp pain in his lip and the warmth of blood running down his chin told Sean that he had somehow cut his lip open that Sean realized what Diffindo was.
Letting out a string of cursewords, Sean grabbed his lip. Managing to scribble down "It cuts" next to the last question, Sean shoved his hand in the air. She had said he would get in trouble for shouting, but dammit if his lip didn't hurt like hell. Besides, if the echoing curses hadn't already lost him points, a few more wouldn't hurt. "Oi Oi! Professor! I.. I need to run to the nurse!" He managed to spit out from behind his hand.

Elaina had just finished the questions when she hear a loud yell come from beside her. She turned to look to Sean to see what it was that he was yelling about and saw that his lip was bleeding. Her eyes immediately wide. That wasn't expected at all. Usually people didn't cut their lips in the first five minutes of class. Elaina sighed a worried sigh. Even though she wanted to say something just to see if he was alright, the slur of curse words that escaped his mouth stopped her.
"Oi Oi! Professor! I.. I need to run to the nurse!"
Boy was that right. It appeared that Sean really did need to go to the nurse. Elaina dropped her quill on her paper and watched to see if the incident got any worse. It was like a car accident... she knew that she should look away or even stop and ask if everything was okay, but it was just so bad that she was almost awe struck and she couldn't look away.

Bridget was just about to write the answer for the last question when Sean spoke up. She looked up and saw he'd obviously found out the answer to the last question. Either that, or he'd somehow gotten into a fight when no one was looking.
Stifling laughter (it was funny, okay?), Bridget was nonetheless concerned. "Sean, what on earth...?" she managed to ask before she realised that if she spoke any more she wouldn't be able to hold back her laughter.

There were a few questions that Zeek honestly just took stabs at when he was able to at least find a pen, though he was certain overall that he couldn’t have done too badly. He was pretty good at wandwork, and he didn’t really have the excuse of not knowing what was taught in class since studying was all he had as a time-passer in the previous years. When he’d completed his small quiz, he scribbled his name onto the top corner, as well as the date, and pushed it forward over the desk.
Sitting back in his chair once more, he heard the small ruckus stir up at Ferris’ table. Peering over in that general direction, he saw the blood and grinned slightly, though the expression didn’t stay longer than a second. From what he’d guessed, Ferris had gotten to the last question on the quiz and was trying to cheat by casting it to find out the answer. It seemed such a plan had backfired though, but the wound and blood seemed to suit him.
