It wasn't long before the class started and Profesor Boothroyd had a quiz up on the board. Emma was only glad she had already taken out some parchment, meaning she wouldn't be scrambling it together while others finished the questions. Glancing up at the board once, Emma scribbled down the first question, surprised at the sudden silence of the room.
Lifting her head to look up at the board, Emma scribbled down the next one, sighing at the redundancy of it. Professor Boothroyd was never redundant, which meant that Emma had supplied to much information in the first question.
Glancing back up the board in the same manner, Emma continued her little game of back and forth, taking down each question as it came and answering it before beginning the next. While one could argue about the energy lost in such repetitive movements of looking up and down, Emma could also argue that taking down the questions first always led to a hesitation before plunging in and actually answering them; first impressions were lost, and all too often that resulted in second-guessing.
Looking at her last answer, Emma realized that knowing the enemy could be called being prepared, but she wasn't about to waste time splitting hairs. Besides, Emma knew she had the other answers correct so far. And time was precious in the class.
Emma had no idea why that question was being asked. Although she assumed the professor had mentioned it in passing on some other subject, Emma was sure she hadn't thought the information valuable. She would have to satisfy herself with a guess on that question.
As Emma crossed the last 't', she jumped at a sudden cry. Looking over, it seemed Sean had cut his lip. He must have been thinking too hard on the last question. She winced at his string of cursewords, even though some were slightly familiar to her ears; Fumbling with her parchment, Emma ripped off the bottom half of it, folding it into a reasonable wad. "Here," she offered, stretching her arm out over Elaina to offer the paper to him as well as a look of concern. "Put some pressure on it," she added, explaining the use of the wad.
