Monday, August 4th. 1:00 PM Magizoology Classroom It was time for Dana to teach her first class of the year. She often thought she got off very easy with her job, compared to most of the other teachers. Three small classes, each an hour long twice a week. It was great. Several cages sat on top of the neat and ordered teachers desk. They looked like they were filled with wet grass, mud, and a bit of wood. But this was no ordinary wood. This was no wood at all, as a matter of fact. What was it? The answer was written on the blackboard. Dugbog Just a single word was up there for now. Dana would write more later. For now she was busy with paperwork, which would keep her occupied until the students arrived.

Dakota walked slowly through to the grounds toward where Magizoology would be taking place. She had skipped lunch so she knew that she would be early for this class. She actually was pretty happy about going to this class. For one the teacher wasn't a complete fool, and the stuff that learned didn't put her to sleep, most of the time. She made it to the gardens, and everyone diverged to either go to Herbology or Magizoology.
Entering the classroom, she nodded to the teachers and took a seat. She tapped her fingers on the table as she waited for more people to come. She hated to be alone with a teacher. Usually if you were the first one in there the teacher started to talk to you. Dakota hated that. She sighed as she read the bored.

Sean practically tripped over his own two feet as he ran toward the portion of the gardens that his favorite class was held. Tossing his robes over his shoulder like a cape and letting his head rear back so the wind could blow through his hair, Sean smiled. It felt so good to get out of that stuffy building and into the fresh air.
Coming to a skidding halt outside the small building that house the one room classroom, Sean pulled open the door to see an almost bare classroom with only the teacher and Dakota present. One look at the board and he frowned. Dugbogs? Great... I bet we get to study them all indoors too. He sighed mentally, his joy depleted once he realized that his favorite class would just be like all the others. With a grumble in his throat, he made his way toward the front. Seeing the equally disgruntled looked on Dakotas face, Sean smiled a little. She needed some cheering up, and Sean was just the man to do it.
Plopping down next to her, Sean crossed his arms on the table and rested his face in them, smiled over at her. "Hey... What's with the frown. I am here now... so smile..." he said jokingly, a twinkle in his eye.

"Hey... What's with the frown. I am here now... so smile..."
Well, Dakota did smile. There was something about this kid that made everyone smile. No wait. Correction: There was something about this kid that made all the girls smile. It was completely true. If you were hanging out with Sean (and if you are a girl), there was a 99.99% chance that you were smiling. Taking her eyes away from the board and the gross things that were in the cages, she looked at Sean.
"Yea well soon...those gross ugly things will be joining us." Dakota said looking back at the Dugbogs.
She didn't want to learn about those things. She didn't think anyone really wanted to. The teacher didn't seem very smart to her either. So far the only thing that was written on the board was Dugbog. Boy, didn't that make her look smart? Maybe she just learned to write.
Dakota looked back at Sean, and sighed heavily.

With a full belly and a hungry mind, Emma found her way to the Magizoology Classroom, peeking into the room first to find out if they were inside or not. Seeing the teacher at the front of the room, Emma only let a small frown express itself at the thought of being indoors. She had hoped it would be an outdoors class, but it was no matter. Emma could learn indoors just as well as she could outdoors.
Taking a seat on the other side of Sean, Emma could only guess at his reaction to being boxed in by two females. He was certain to have some lovely compliment in store, and Emma always found his smiles to be quite contagious. He made the class fun, allowing her to even eagerly anticipate the coming class. While the animals were often interesting, Emma only cared so much for the eating habits of the Hippogriff.
"Hello, Professor," Emma called out, giving the professor a polite nod before turning to her classmates. It seemed they were studying dugbogs, whatever those were, and Dakota had already expressed her disgust of them. "Oh, they can't be too bad," Emma replied, trying to make the girl feel better. No matter what creature was presented to them, the class would always end eventually.

"Yea well soon...those gross ugly things will be joining us."
Sean let out a laugh. "Now now... that is NO WAY to talk about Braxton. He is a good fellow." Sean said with a teasing smirk. He really meant no harm by it, Braxton was a good enough guy when he wasn't being a pig headed game killer. Lacking in social skills, sure, but he could throw a damn good quaffle. And he wasn't there to defend himself, so Sean took advantage of that particular moment.
"Oh, they can't be too bad,"
Sean realized a moment later that Braxton didn't have that class anyways, and therefore his joke was probably lost on the quiet blond. Thankfully, That was when Emma made her perfectly time entrance and took the spotlight off him. Putting his head down a little and looking up at her under raised eyebrows, Sean let a lazily smile take his face over. "Well.. If it isn't my lucky day. Tell me Vale, To what do I owe the pleasure of having both you and Miss Dakota sitting next to little old me?"

Dakota was about to say something about Sean's joke, but Emma walked in. She really didn't appreciate his joke, but she knew he was only kidding. Maybe. She crossed her legs under her desk. She shrugged at Emma's statement even though she completely disagreed. Looking back over at them, she pulled up her hair just in case they started to throw mud or something. They looked like the type of creature that would do that.
She put her elbow on her desk, and placed her chin in her hand so she was facing both Sean and Emma. She wasn't sure if she was going to talk much for she really didn't know either of the two people sitting near her. She looked over at the teacher again to see her still buried in paper work. It was the first day, how much paperwork could be needed? At this thought, a little grin showed on her face. Making fun of teachers was a hobby for her.

As his feet trudged over the grounds that led to the small building he was scheduled for class at next, Zeek took advantage of the small walk especially after just finishing a big lunch. He was thankful, at least, that it was so much more quiet outside than in the main hall during meal times. With his eyes taking the chance to look around as he neared the building, he saw others moving along to class, though not many, and took in a deep breath to enjoy the clear air.
When he found himself standing in front of the doorway much sooner than he'd expected, he reached out and turned the knob, pushing open the door just enough to step inside before closing it behind him and walking through the room. As his attention moved over his peers, then to the professor, it wasn't long before they fell on the single word written on the board by the desk. Dugbogs... As he repeated the word once, then twice in his mind, it began to come back to him as to what they were. If he was lucky, he wouldn't even have to pull his textbook out for this class if today's subject was that simple. For once he was beginning to feel relief over all the studying he'd done on this subject after getting a grade as low as Acceptable on his SMART the previous year.
Setting his bag down on the floor by the leg of the table that he found to be suitable for that class time, just to the side of and behind the table that Sean and the others took refuge at. As he sat back in his seat, he stretched out his legs and rested his hands on the table in front of him, eyeing the cages on desk and the creatures that blended in inside them.

"Well.. If it isn't my lucky day. Tell me Vale, To what do I owe the pleasure of having both you and Miss Dakota sitting next to little old me?"
"I believe you should be thanking your early arrival, Ferris," Emma replied, a subtle smile gracing her lips as she continued, "For I can think of no other reason you should be so fortunate than that you are the only other student present for Dakota and I." Hearing the door open, Emma turned to see Zeek walk in. Suddenly she wasn't quite sure if she wanted to continue the class sitting next to Ferris. Yet it would be horribly rude for her to move, and she could only guess at what they might say about her waiting until Zeek came in to move.
It was only one class, though, and Ferris's company wasn't all that bad. At the very least he would make the class amusing, and she knew how badly it needed that. At least Dakota wasn't proving to be one of those annoyingly high-pitched girls, like....oh heaven forbid Tristessa Waldmar.

Dakota smiled at Emma's response. What she said was completely true, but she had nothing to add to that. She still sat there saying nothing, and playing with a strand of hair that had just fallen down from her pony tail. She turned her neck to see Zeek walking in, and for a second she though Emma was going to leave. Thankfully she didn't or she would be alone with Ferris. Not that she would mind...possibly.
She placed the strand of hair back behind her ear, and looked around for a moment. There was nothing exciting in the room, and it actually reminded her of the Herbology classroom a bit. That would explain why it did look rather boring. Looking at the creatures out of the corner of her eye, she couldn't help but get 'excited' about todays lesson.

Dana stayed at work with her paperwork as the students entered, looking up when each came in and giving a polite nod. When she decided they'd all had time enough to arrive (and pity any poor soul who decided to be late or absent), she stood up.
"Okay, that's quite enough chatter," she said sharply. "We're here to learn, you know, not socialise." Okay, so maybe Dana wasn't the most kind or fair of teachers, and she normally only treated the seniors as real people. But what she said was true. "I trust you all remembered your protective gloves?" She gazed at each person in turn. "If not, there are some spares in the cabinet to your left."
Dana looked at the cages on her desk, and then at the students. "As I'm sure you can see, there are three cages, and four of you. Two of you will have to share. Now come and collect a cage, don't open it yet, and open your books to chapter four."
She turned and started writing some notes on the board. If there was anything she disliked about being a teacher, it was teaching.

"I believe you should be thanking your early arrival, Ferris, For I can think of no other reason you should be so fortunate than that you are the only other student present for Dakota and I."
Sean sat back, his hand to his chest and the expression on his face depicting his shock at her words. "What? Surely you kid! I am the most eligable bachelor here! More so then Braxton or..."
His eyes searched the room and fell on a familiar blond head. Was Zeek in EVERY class with him? Was he stalking Sean or something? Nodding towards Zeek, Sean continued. "...Or Zeek over there. Who would want to sit with a stick in the mud like that.. no?"
He waggled his brows at Emma, silently letting her know he was teasing her. Just then, the teacher spoke up.
"As I'm sure you can see, there are three cages, and four of you. Two of you will have to share. Now come and collect a cage, don't open it yet, and open your books to chapter four."
Without missing a beat, Sean waved his hand in the air, "I'll take a partner!" He said as he eyed Emma briefly. He hoped he ended up with her.

"What? Surely you kid! I am the most eligable bachelor here! More so then Braxton or...or Zeek over there. Who would want to sit with a stick in the mud like that.. no?"
Stifling a laugh at the dramatics, Emma enjoyed messing around with Ferris. His reactions were always so fun, and she knew he didn't mean any harm. He was one of the few people she could mess around with, the closest thing to a brother she had ever known. Hearing the call for protective gloves, Emma cursed her lack of foresight to bring them. She had assumed the first class would be more introductory than hands on, and had only brought her book and some parchment. At least there were some in the cabinet, although she would certainly give them a good sanitizing spell before she put her hand in one.
"You, Mr. Ferris, are a scientific marvel," Emma sighed, only letting the smallest of smiles escape her lips, "How your tiny head can hold such a huge ego is nothing short of a miracle." While she wanted to say something about his comment on Zeek, Emma knew it would only breed further comments. She had no idea why Sean had such a vendetta against him, if anything she could only chalk it up to a jealousy of sorts. Ferris was just...odd. No matter how long she knew him, Emma never could quite figure him out.
"As I'm sure you can see, there are three cages, and four of you. Two of you will have to share. Now come and collect a cage, don't open it yet, and open your books to chapter four."
"I'll take a partner!"
She should have known he would be the first to volunteer as a partner. Smiling at his enthusiasm, Emma expected his eyes to roll over at Dakota. She was blonde, pretty, and Emma had seen her out at the pitch or talking to Braxton once or twice; it almost went without saying that she'd be on the Merlin team. Why Sean would pick Emma over a potential fling was beyond her. Still, she wasn't about to roll over. Taking the opportunity set so beautifully before her, Emma picked up her bag and settled the strap over her shoulder before going up to the professor's desk.
"I'll partner," Emma spoke up, gently taking one of the cages from the desk, "With Zeek," she finished, giving Sean a daring, triumphant grin. Walking past him to Zeek's table, Emma's face instantly changed as she glanced at him with curious eyes. 'Do you mind?' she mouthed, asking him with her eyes as well. She wasn't about to barge in on him if he preferred to work alone. Setting the cage down on his table, Emma stood for a moment, waiting to see if he was alright with it. If not, she could work by herself; as much fun as she had with Sean, Emma knew the first few minutes would be unbearable after her little scene.

"...Or Zeek over there. Who would want to sit with a stick in the mud like that.. no?" "I'll take a partner!" Ferris' oh so familiar, anxious voice chimed in. There were two girls in the classroom, so it didn't surprise Zeek in the least to hear the boy so up and ready to do some work with one of them. Though with the unsurprising finger-pointing from the other boy, Zeek as usual paid it no heed, not really seeing it as a horrible occurrence that he was a "bachelor".
"I'll partner. With Zeek." With the second mention of partnering, as well as hearing his name, Zeek looked up in surprise, seeing Vale walk over to his table. Though as he listened to the cage clank down against the table's surface, he stared down at her expression as he found himself at a more profound loss of words.
When he was finally able to pull himself out of the small daze, he looked over to Ferris, then back to Vale before leaning down a bit. "Er. Isn't it Ferris you meant to partner with? Not that I don't want to be your partner.. I mean, that is.." Grand, he always entangled his words when he got nervous around Vale, he really needed to work on that since it was probably making his interest in her rather obvious. Coughing, he straightened up a bit and looked down at the cage to regain some control over his ability to compile a full sentence.
"I'd be honored to be your partner," he finally answered, though in a tone that only she would hear, hating the endless taunting that Ferris would probably annoy him with if he overheard.
