Are you over 13?: (You MUST answer this) Certainly am.
Name: Tobias (Toby when referred by colleagues ONLY) Warren Donovan McPherson.
Age: 67.
Gender: Male.
Birthday/Sign: October 30, 1930; Scorpio.
Blood Type/Purity: A+; Pureblood (Pureblood Parents).
Appearance: With time altering his original looks, Tobias’ beautiful dark hair has become a bright white, but is not a matter considering his blue eyes are still his greatest feature that the man has. Tobias stands around 5’11 with a slight tan from his extensive vacations to Greece and whatnot in Europe during the summer breaks. Aside from this, Tobias constantly switches his wardrobe appearances in which one day he may choose a nice business suit, then again, the old codger likes what makes him happy. Also with him being a Metamorph, Tobias can choose to change and alter his persona completely, but avoids that during the school term. Across his face, there is fading scar from the Korean War that Tobias fought in and chooses to keep on his face at all times to remind the devotion and courage he has inside of himself.
Personality: In accordance with Scorpios, Tobias is exciting when outside the classroom, especially around those his age and those of his former house, Merlin. However, Tobias can be quite secretive, not telling much about him, trying desperately to make sure that he is in control of his life and not those around him. Determined like a madman sometimes, Tobias knows what he wants in life and sees it as that you’ve got to work for your labors and not that everyone is always going to spoon-feed you.
History: Born precisely at 11:59pm on October 30, 1930, wizardring parents Mary and Benjamin McPherson were greatly relieved to know that their eldest son was shy of one minute being born on Halloween, but now, they did have the predicament of their son being born on All Hallows Eve in Boston, Massachusetts, the location to where Benjamin’s ancestors had lived for a long time and where Mary’s family as well as Benjamin’s had participated in the American Revolution.
By that time, Tobias had developed a knack for liking the fine arts as well an interest in mythology as well as legends, but it was mainly due to the fact a large library was in his grasp at home when his mother gave birth to a little sister, Robin. Tobias really hadn’t cared much for Robin at first, but soon enough, he came to love her dearly and often protected her later on in life. Everything changed though for Tobias on his fourth birthday: As he was opening his gifts, a friend of his decided that they would try and take one of his presents to see what was inside. When Tobias caught on, he was quickly angered – pointing his index finger at the child, the kid was instantly knocked off his seat and fell hard onto the floor, crying. Tobias looked at his finger and his friend whose parents stared at the young underage wizard.
Mary and Benjamin then knew it was too late. Their son had already begun show the signs of a wizard, so within a few weeks, the McPherson family immediately left Boston and headed towards Salem, Massachusetts, a superstitious town still curious and watchful of their historic nature of the witch trials so long ago. Tobias’ parents finally revealed to little boy what he was and that his sister as well as his parents were wizardring folk too, but that they would personally tutor him in hopes that he wouldn’t feel out of place with regular ‘Muggle’ folk, as Tobias remembered them calling those he called ‘friends.’ Over the couple years, Tobias and Robin were privately tutored until Tobias received a letter from SWIM, a Wizardring Institute that Benjamin and Mary had both attended themselves.
Tobias was sent there and he immediately fell in love with it, engaging himself in studies and excelling highly in Merlin House, broadening his skills as both a Gryfalcon Animagi in his 6th and 7th Year as well as his Transfiguration skills as a Metamorphigi. After his graduation, Tobias was rather disappointed that he had to leave, but he had the opportunity to help Robin out a little bit as she had been a Ptolemy student during her term at SWIM. Tobias continued to help until he signed up for the Army Reserves for the Korean War in 1949 as he turned 19. At the beginning of his term, Tobias did fall in love with a nurse that he only knew as ‘Betty,’ but after he was shipped off, Tobias would never see her again while overseas. Tobias spent his first year training and the three years in the conflict and then was honorably discharged after an ambush on his squadron that had almost cost him his life, but luckily had only impaired his walking abilities for a few years. Tobias had also earned the title of a First Class Sergeant as well as earning a Bronze Star Medal. Tobias then came home right as Robin was beginning college at a local school in Boston.
After coming back from the war in 1953, Tobias sought jobs working including working at the meat department of a local grocery store but found really nothing that suited him until he had heard an opening at SWIM for the Transfiguration and Merlin Head of House position from his father. Tobias had remembered that had been his best class (as well as Alchemy) while at SWIM. Taking the opportunity, Tobias immediately sought it by preparing for months. Finally, Tobias took the exam and successfully passed. Starting in 1955, Tobias has been teaching Transfiguration to the students, showing to them that there’s more than what meets the eye about this codger. It was also at this time that Tobias wished to find a new companion, but gave up after a few months of failures, not on his part entirely, but mainly that he is unable to find what he’s looking for in a woman. Oddly enough, the only woman (aside from the respect he gives to the professors) that Tobias has really seemed to like is the Dean herself, but really has never approached himself to telling her, but is always the first to compliment the methods behind her firm beliefs of structure and learning for the academy.
During the attacks on the Institute in 1996, Tobias helped his fellow colleagues against the Neo-DE’s by aiding several arrests of the Death Eaters and made sure his house was kept safe long after the arrests to ensure their safety and security. When the summer holidays came to be after the closure of SWIM, Tobias was questioned by School Governors if he wished to continue and Tobias was adamant with his decision in that he would never retire nor quit until death took him from the school. With that courageous statement, Tobias continues today with the spirit of his former house as well as the determination to prove that there’s more to him than what most know.
Likes: The fine arts; Mythology and Legends; Chocolate; Cigars; Snow; Alchemy and Transfiguration (the two subjects he excelled in during his time at SWIM). Avid Quidditch fan as well.
Dislikes: Stupidity; ignorance and intolerance (sees as the same thing); Cold and damp rain – summer and spring rains are better according to him.
Special Abilities: a Gyrfalcon Animagi Approved by admin
Wand: Blackthorn; 11 ½ inches, right-handed.
Broom: (Has one, will fill in shortly)
Pet: Falcon named Aiden.
Class Taught: Transfiguration for 42 years.
Special Titles: Transfiguration Professor and Head of Merlin House; First Class Sgt. – Earned title during Korean War.
Years Teaching: 42.
Reason for Teaching: Enjoy the subject and delight in enlightening children’s minds by allowing them to learn more to what meets the eye about the subject. Also, Transfiguration is a subject he retained rather well during his time at SWIM as a student to which helped him further his Metamorphigi abilities.

Tobias entered the classroom, looking around to see that the students were talking amongst themselves, ranging from worries of the new semester, the professor and whatnot. “Ahem…” he began, tapping his hand on the board, yet the class continued their ruckus. Raising an eyebrow, Tobias cleared his throat again, hoping to get their attention, but once more, the chatter continued. “If you’re quite FINISHED now...” he finally stated, his voice boomed over the classroom and it fell immediately quiet as the students began to stare at their professor with full attention and bit of apprehension on a few of their faces.
”Thank you.... Let’s begin. Welcome to your first class of Transfiguration. I’m Professor McPherson and I’m hoping that you’ve had at least some time to study or even glance at the book over the summer,” Tobias began, smiling briefly as the students stared baffled with the professor. Waving his hand to dismiss his poor try at a joke, Tobias chuckled. “Don’t worry, it’s not like I was going to give you a quiz already with it being the first day and all. However, we are going to begin by quizzing your knowledge of what you have heard or know about this subject. I want to know what I’ll be dealing with this year with the future generation sitting before me,” Tobias said as he clapped his hands and the board came to life with a few questions about the subject. “You may use your book, but not your fellow classmates. You’ve precisely fifteen minutes to complete this assignment. If you need any assistance, feel free to raise your hand.” With a nod of his head, Tobias sat back down at his seat and surveyed the classroom. Perhaps this year’s beginners class would be different than most.
After the fifteen minutes has passed, Tobias cleared his throat as he stood back up – the classroom’s murmurings drew to a close as their writing utensils were laid down next to their parchment. “All right...I’ll be picking those up now…” Tobias began as the parchments left the students’ desks, “As for the lesson, we’ll begin with the fundamentals of Transfiguration. We’ll be focusing on what is, what is expected and most of all, what I hope you will achieve in my classroom…”
