Name: Amara Eulalia Durante
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Birthday/Sign: November 20 // Scorpio
Blood Type/Purity: Pureblooded
Appearance:
Personality:
Amara is a true Scorpio in many cases, yet at times she is anything but. She has a powerful, dynamic character and she likes to live an exciting life. Her magnetic personality tends to draw people towards her, especially men. She draws men like honey draws bees and yet she is nowhere near as sweet. No, sweetness has never been one of Amara’s strengths unless she felt it was necessary. After all, every now and then she needs to use sweetness to mamipulate the men in her life. Manipulation and seduction are two skills that she counts among her best and most used.
Her magnetic personality and passionate nature make her an exciting person to be around. While it’s true that she can be very secretive at times and tends to be jealous and resentful. Her nature leads her to be compulsive and obsessive at times. However, this is truly just because she leads a double life far too often. It aids in her secretiveness and her arts of manipulation. She will truly manipulate almost any man put into her own path. However, she does think that there are a fair few men who happen to be her equals. Those men she doesn’t attempt to manipulate, instead she treats them like they deserve.
She can be very fussy and detail oriented which often makes her work have a certain quality that may be lacking in that of others. She prefers to work alone when she can, and perhaps this is why she decided to teach. After all, too many hands in one classroom are never a good thing. She is very precise and exact when it comes to her work. She expects much from her students, but she also puts a lot of effort into their classes. Well, she does when she feels like it anyhow. In any case, when taking her class, students will learn many skills. She has an analytical approach to various areas as well as an undeniable intellectualism. Her creative thinking also tends to show sometimes over her analytical side and this makes her class a toss up everytime you enter it.
Amara is opinionated and pretentious as well as tasteful. She is more cultured than others and she isn't afraid to tell them. She can be sincere and honest if she truly attempts to be, but finds that there is nothing in it for her when she is. So she’s brutally honest only at times and if she is being such then you can generally assume you’ve been allowed to enter the circle of trust. That or Amara doesn’t like you enough to bother with flattery. She’s intuitive and very jealous at times though she tries not to let it show.
Mainly she likes to live hard. She guards her heart and doesn’t let people know much about what she thinks of love. After all, she finds it frivolous and harmful. There is no use for it in her life.
History:
November 20, 1964; Amara Eulalia Durante is born. Her parents were Sandra Elena Rios and Leonardo Michael Durante. He was a rich pureblooded Italian and she a wealthy pureblooded Spanish heiress. A lovely mix that produced their minx of a daughter. They couldn’t have been happier the moment she was born. Of course she was unfortunately to be their only child. The labor and birth had been difficult for Sandra so more children would never be an option. Not that she and Leonardo minded. She was an only child and Leonardo the oldest son so they cared little for having more children than one. After all, then there could be no disputes as to who was heir to the family fortune.
As the only child of the happy couple, Amara was spoiled as such. She was always given the best of everything and anything she wanted. She was naturally curious as a child and would explore her parent’s home to no end until she knew well every nook and cranny. When she was a small child, she loved to crawl into her father’s lap to hear stories. As she grew older she came to spend more time in the library than anywhere else. It became her haven and rarely was she found without a book in hand. Many an afternoon she spent there reading, drawing, writing and daydreaming. It was her favorite place in the entire home.
Of course she always seemed to be up to some form of mischeif and she rarely got in trouble. Her nanny’s used to claim that she had to be like Circe because she had her father so charmed. Not to mention her uncles and male cousins. They all felt she was the most innocent creature to have walked the earth. She was just one of the oldest females and her older male cousins or her second cousins all wanted to protect her when they could. What man wouldn’t? With her cute little pout and big brown eyes it was difficult to try not to ‘protect’ her or believe that she was innocent.
Her first act of magic was no surprise to her or to the family. She had always known she was special and they had suspected she would do great things. It was really fairly simple. She didn’t want her nanny to brush her hair so everytime the bewildered woman tried she would cause the brushes to break. It was nothing big really. Simply an act of pure will. Her parents thought it was the sweetest thing and when the time came had to make the big decision, what school would Amara go to? Would she go to Hogwarts? Beauxbatons? Durmstrang? Salem? The last was the least likely. After all, they didn’t want her so far away. Hogwarts was really too ‘good’ for their tastes. So it was either Beauxbatons or Durmstrang. In the end they let Amara decide and she chose to accept the invitation from Durmstrang.
So in September of 1975 she headed off for Durmstrang. This was just as the Dark Lord was rising to power and Durmstrang ended up being the place to be for studies in the Dark Arts. It was actually just the place to be in general at the time. So, she made the most of it, taking all the regular classes that one would expect, but also learning subjects that a school like Hogwarts would close before offering. She learned many things under the tutelage of some of the darkest minds of the generation. Of course she learned to be craftier than most, and that only added to her femenine guiles.
She left Durmstrang at the age of seventeen a true woman. She was changed in many ways and she could manipulate men to her will with the best of them. Truthfully she was just crafty and she used men for the pawns she felt they were. Her first kiss was with one of her second cousins. A sweet and gullible boy who she twisted and used to her advantage. After all, she needed an explosion, a large one. He didn’t mean to do it. Of course not, but the silly boy helped to rid her of the two people in her life who were her largest hindrance, Leonardo and Sandra. Was it her fault that they had grown to be nervous of her dark ways? No, certainly not. In any case, it wasn’t her fault that her poor pawn had died as well in the ‘accident’.
With her parents dead and all the money in her hands, her family began to wonder about her intentions and that ‘innocence’. So slowly, she began the money transfers until one day she disappeared, never to be heard from again in Italy. Well, at least not under the same name. Her family was left with a few simple goodbyes, except for the cousins she saw had potential. They at least got letters every now and again. She even wrote to Durmstrang to ask about what they saw. Anyone with no potential or backbone for evil wasn’t going to cut it in her mind.
She chose to move to America and was on her own in the world at the tender age of 21. Her final exam scores had been excellent and she had specialized in Numerology. What could a girl who was good with numbers do? She didn’t truly need a job, no, but she wanted to do something. She began to move in the upper circles of wizarding society in America, beginning to catch word of this group of purists, the Neo-DEs. The group intrigued her with their manner of doing things. It was like the reign of Voldemort... only separated. There might have been less trouble here. She took her time to seek out the group, the leaders, and join. After all, they needed a European contingent.
Through them she began to rise, until at the age of 26 she applied for a teaching position at SWIM at the urging of various members of the group. They needed a spy and she was best qualified. Not to mention the fact that no one knew her. So, when the Numerology position mysteriously opened, Amara simply wished to fill the gap. Her application went through and she began to work at SWIM, molding innocent minds. What a great job. She truly did enjoy the work with numbers though. She’d been too far away from this world where everything made sense.
In 1996 there was an attack on the school that left Amara torn. She had known it would occur and had been prepared, she’d even been told to fight against them normally. She had done so, obeyed and fought against the Neo-DEs as though she truly wanted to get rid of them. Yet, what was the help of a Numerology professor? She was more trained to perform the Dark Arts than to fight against them. In any case, she truly seemed to be into the fighting. Even if she did only knock out one or two of the attackers. She attempted right? She was just as indignant as the other teachers and she acted scared as well. After all, she needed to keep her cover.
She still works at SWIM, teaching Numerology and working daily to keep her secret. so far she doesn’t think anyone suspects, but one can never be too sure.

The sharp click-clack of her heels could be heard as she entered the classroom and approached her desk. She had prepared this lesson and she was ready to start again. The summer had been - for the most part - uneventful. Sure, she had toyed with a heart or two but she didn’t find that anything out of the ordinary. After all, there was nothing extraordinary about her summertime events. True, she’d scared many of the Neo-DEs and recruited fresh blood from some of her old students, but that didn’t seem like enough. she had brought new students to the fold at the end of every year. Who of her seniors would be acceptable this year? Were there any?
She sighed and turned to face her class. “Buon giorno,” she said with a soft smile as she surveyed them to ensure that everyone was in place. Yes, all there. “I hope your summer breaks were eventful, but not too much so.” Her dark eyes flickered and her smile was unwavering as she sought for some students whose families had found themselves in hard spots this summer. She had been there, yes, at almost every one of those attacks. She had to keep her puppetry act going and semi-secretive. They couldn’t really know that their leader was an idiot who was being controlled by a woman. Many of the men wouldn’t allow it.
She moved around to perch on the front of her desk and crossed her legs smartly. She smiled a sultry smile to her students and proceeded with the lesson plans of the day. “Today we will begin a simple review of the numbers and how to get them. Challenge, Self Image, Self Motivation, Self Expression and my favorite, Destiny.” She looked around and watched as some students scribbled furiously and others lounged back more self-assured. Yes, this was her class. It was interesting to watch their distinctive attitudes. Some saw her as a pushover and others as exceedingly difficult. It was perfect she supposed.
“Now, how many challenge numbers are there?” she asked looking around until her eyes locked on those of an especially cocky boy who sat near the center of the room. He had a smirk that she would have liked to slap off his face and she just smiled darkly. “You, tell me, how many challenge numbers do we have?” She waited patiently as he paused for a moment to think. Her eyes challenged him as he opened his mouth. He answered her in an assured tone “Three,” he piped up with a smirk.
“Incorrect,” she said smoothly with a small smirk. “There are four challenge numbers. I expect an essay on my desk from you and you alone for the next class. What are the challenge numbers and how do you find them? No less than one and a half scrolls of parchment please.” She smiled at the sight of his crestfallen face and shook her head. She moved gracefully from the desk to the floor and went over to the chalkboard. She wrote on it in her neat script 'What is Numerology?'. “This is to be our topic for this class. Think for a moment and then we shall discuss,” she said as she begn to pull out number charts and the like. Yes, begin with the philosophy of numbers again. Make it easy for them for now.
