Are you over 13?: (You MUST answer this) Well… yes… sometimes.
Name: Andrew James Parker
Age: 17
Year in Salem: This will be his fourth.
Gender: Male
Birthday/Sign: October 25/Scorpio
Blood Type/Purity: A-/muggleborn
Appearance:
At 6’3 tall, Andy, as his friends have nicknamed him, keeps his brown hair nice and wild. It’s a sign that good times are ahead. When he isn’t practicing for quidditch, Andy is often running the grounds to keep his body in shape. As he matured earlier than a lot of the other boys, he often gets in trouble for not keeping his facial hair trimmed and has to shave it back for school uniforms. His dark eyes give him a harder look.
Personality:
Always active, Andy is always searching for people to play a game with. As a very pleasant and friendly person, as well as one with a sense of humor, many people come to him. Though he is not the smartest, he could be said to have the most charisma in his class.
While he enjoys kicking any ball around, Andy can also read a book. Amazing as it is, he does enjoy things that are not textbooks. Classics or silly mystery novels do it for him just fine.
When around the opposite sex, he can be charming or quiet. Depending on what the circumstances called for, Andy is well known for being able to do it. He could be very sly and smooth when he wants, often finding his instructor’s like him even if he doesn’t get all his homework done.
History:
Born October 25 to Laurie and Joseph Parker, Andy was the third of six children. His parents were both muggles, working on the family boat in Maine. His father and older brothers worked on the fish boat while he grew up and went to grade school. His mother had him help, when he wasn’t doing school work or his extracurricular activities, cut and salt the fish to be sold in the market. By the time he was nine, Andy could navigate the family boat out of the harbor and through rough storms. Only during the summer was he allowed to help, though.
His two older brothers, Mark and Steven, were home schooled once they chose to work on the family business. Their parents believed in a strong education, and during the long periods of time they were gone, they got educated through their father and other hands on the deck. Andy always looked up to his brothers, Steven being the closest in age and that was six years difference. Either he was criticized for his little size or laughed at for trying to pick up as much as the older boys.
When he was four, his younger sister, Stephanie, was born. Only a year later, his little brother, Craig, was born. The family was not well off by any means, and made due with left over fish and whatever his mother made from her second job at the grocery store. While he grew up at home, he helped his mother out as often as he could while his father and brothers were away, handling his younger siblings and keeping an eye on what they were doing when his mother went to work. He matured a lot over the few years before he was informed he could attend SWIM.
His mother was worried over the fact that her most responsible and helpful son was a wizard. She refused to believe it at first, and most of the summer he was on the boat with his father and brothers, bringing in the catch as it was caught. A nasty summer storm hit that June, and fourteen year old Andy was sent to handle the helm while his brothers and father tried to pull in the last catch. Keeping it as steady as possible, Andy could hardly see out the window, let alone what was going on with the older men in his family. A long hour progressed, and he kept them clear of other boats and reefs, on edge until all three came back into the safety where Andy was. His oldest brother, Mark, took over the helm while sending Andy to get them all drinks. He listened to their tales the entire way back to port, laughing as they told silly stories, and becoming quiet when they told sad ones.
Once back into port, his father told his mother that he didn’t want Andy out on the boat for the rest of the summer, that the storms were too hard. Though he protested, he was overruled by his parents. They talked about SWIM, and though his father was at first against it, it seemed the easiest way to keep Andy from trying to get on the boat.
While attending SWIM, Andy made many friends and did okay in his classes. It was all new information for him, and he had a lot of trouble getting his wand work down. He did, however, find he loved working on a broom, and by end of first term, he tried out and was accepted on the Quidditch team. It was almost easy compared to being on a boat for so much of his life.
In November of 1996, the school was attacked and shut down. His girlfriend at the time was injured in the blast, and though he tried to keep in touch with her, she quit school and refused to Owl him back. Going back home after that, he lived on his father’s boat for the rest of the year, waiting for news of when SWIM might reopen. He didn’t expect anything after waiting for so long, and had been increasingly helpful on the family boat after Steven was injured when a hook went through his ankle. However, the summer of 1997, he got a radio call from his mother back home telling him that a notice had been sent that SWIM was reopening, and he had to get home and get his things so he could graduate. Much preferring to stay on the boat, he was forced to go back to school as his brother was able to at least hold the helm of the boat while his father and oldest brother controlled the fish. They had help who went out for a small cut of the profit.
Now with some of his own money saved up, Andy is getting ready to go back to SWIM. He doesn’t know what to expect, wondering how many friends would be coming back. He was a little anxious to see if everything felt different, or if he’d be able to handle being back.

Stepping out from the bathroom, Andy stretched and yawned. It was late, and he hadn’t meant to take that long of a shower. With his sweats on and a long sleeved black shirt, he didn’t care to crash into anyone in the halls. He had a game this weekend and didn’t need a detention to complicate his practices. His team expected him to be there.
As he stepped around the corner, thinking to just head back into his room, he was stopped by a light in his face. Grunting, Andy took a step back, pushing the wand away from his eyes. “Kill that, will ya?” Frowning at the over zealous hall monitor, Andy dusted himself off, holding up his shower bag.
“Out a bit late, aren’t we?”
“Maybe if I wasn’t showering I would be in bed by now.” Glaring at the younger boy, he seemed to challenge him. However, Andy was not getting into it right there. “Give me my slip and let me go, Winkle.” The boy’s eyes narrowed until he finally handed Andy his slip. Walking past him, shoving it in his pocket, Andy made it for his room so he could go straight to sleep.
