Personality:
Hillary loves to be the centre of attention. She does whatever she can to be noticed. She is highly ambitious, and would do anything to get what she wants. Highly manipulative, Hillary will use anything from false flattery o blackmail to get ahead.
This isn’t to say she isn’t a nice person. She’s actually quite friendly, unless you get in her way. The thing is, if she had a choice, she’d rather save herself than her best friend. Hillary has a hard time becoming close to people, or relating to them at all. But she knows what you have to do and say, even if she doesn’t feel it. Really, she’s just a robotic socialite like the rest of them.
But you shouldn’t think she’s a robot with no personality. She’s bubbly on the outside, and cold as ice on the inside. A certain level of vanity is present as well, but that is mainly because she feels she has to do herself up and look her best, because although her best isn’t good enough to her, it’s better than what she normally looks like.
Hillary is very well educated and cultured, meaning that she speaks well and can have intelligent conversations whereas most people of her ‘kind’ spoke only of superficial things. Her confidence prevents her from being very witty, however. She normally stays away from fights, unless someone verbally attacks her. She prefers to get people back in more subtle ways.
The only exception to her selfishness is when it comes to her brother and sister. Though they fight like most siblings, she would go to the ends of the earth for them.
History:
Before you can talk about a person’s history, you must first visit the lives of the generations before them. In this case we shall only discuss Hillary’s parents, Jane and Robert.
Jane was born in Naples, Italy. She was the eldest daughter of a wealthy Phoenix breeder. While her brother was expected to carry on the family business, Jane and her sister were truly ladies of leisure. They were free to do whatever they wanted with their family’s money, there only obligation being to marry rich and give their parents lots of grandchildren.
The French Robert Rivere was, like Jane’s brother, obligated to carry on his family’s business. He was never very clear on what this was, even to his wife and children when they came along. All anyone really knew of him and his family was that they had very old money, and that their was a lot of profit in their work.
One fateful day in the summer, twenty-seven year old Robert was in Rome on business while Jane, a spirited young lady of nineteen, was holidaying with her mother and sister. They never really told anyone what happened on that day, but they disappeared, sending brief notes to each of their families, only to come back a year later, married, with a baby girl in Jane’s arms. This was Hillary.
There was a terrible stir around this turn of events. Robert’s family came close to disowning him for abandoning them; while Jane’s was furious she would elope and disgrace her family name. But there would be more of a disgrace to both of their families if it got out that they were fighting with their children like this. They were quite well known in each of their respective communities. So they, uneasily, forgave their children.
But it was always uneasy. By the time the next two children were born, Robert and Jane were so sick of their families that they moved across the Atlantic, to the United States. Robert said he was expanding the business across continents, but every saw through this.
The marriage of Jane and Robert was sudden and rushed. In most cases, such marriages don’t last. The only reason this was an exception was because Jane didn’t want to bring more shame to her family. But it was eventually a loveless marriage. Robert was always away on business, and Jane was forever back at her parent’s place in Italy or on some kind of holiday. As a result, the children were mainly raised by their nannies.
Hillary didn’t really mind. It was hard on the other two, but Hillary never really formed an attachment to her parents at all. She was more than happy with the life she had. They had a huge house on the beach, everything children would ever want, and they were taken out to different places almost daily. The children had tutors, even for coven school.
They were immersed in the high class community. Hillary learned early on to dress well, get in good with the right people, and be noticed. Her sister, Jade, hated this life they led, but Hillary loved it. Of course, she would have gladly traded this lavish life for a normal family, one where the parents were actually there.
But, she figured she wasn’t going to have that. So she embraced her life, even if it wasn’t perfect. It seemed that way on the surface, and Hillary had been taught that the surface was all that mattered.
When she started at SWIM, Hillary made sure she made a good impression on everyone. Most people bought her act, especially the teachers. Some saw right through it, and saw her for the fake she was. But Hillary was fine with being a fake. It saved her from having to figure out who she really was.
She made many friends, but she wasn’t very close to any of them, even the ones who thought they were close to her. The only ones she was ever really close to were her brother and sister. They stuck together, the three of them against the world.
In the summer between her sophomore and junior years, Hillary met a young Muggle named Cameron. He was seventeen years old and working at a construction site. Hillary had been looking for Jade who had run away (again!) when he noticed she seemed lost. Of course she was, it was a Muggle place. Long story short, he helped her find her sister, and then asked her out.
Now normally Hillary would shun both Muggles and poor people, but there was something about this guy that just made Hillary melt. They’ve been dating since then, and are planning to marry after Hillary finishes school. He knows she’s a witch, it was quite an interesting conversation when she told him.
It took a while to convince him, and after the initial shock he found it really cool. Of course she does't tell many people she told him, since it isn't really a good thing to do to tell Muggles what you are.
When the school was attacks, they were the first things on her mind. She just wanted to protect them from any harm. She didn’t care about the Cliodne’s who got injured, or her peers who were terrified. All she cared about was her family, and that is really all she does care about, besides herself.
Both her parents were out of the country at the time, and didn’t even hear about the attacks until a few months later when they returned. Even ten, they were uncaring. “Well, you’re fine now, aren’t you?” Even when Jarryd expressed a wish not to go back, because he was scared (and it took a lot for him to admit that), they told him he was being stupid. This just made them less in Hillary’s eyes. But she reassured Jarryd that he’d be fine as long a she was around.

It was about five minutes after lights out. Seriously, five minutes! Okay, maybe ten. Might be closer to fifteen... But still! It wasn’t all that late. Hillary had just lost track of time looking at all the paintings on the third floor. For Magical History, not because she was the least bit interested.
So there she was, a little late getting back to her dorms because she’d been doing school work. She tried to hurry, but when she reached the main hall she saw that Agrippa hall monitor blocking her path. Thinking fast, Hillary stopped right ahead of him, looking anxious.
“Thank goodness I found you,” said Hillary, sounding quite flustered. “Listen, There’s some Sophomore’s trying to break into the storage cupboard in the Alchemy classroom. I don’t know why, but I think they’re up to something. I was looking everywhere for a teacher, but I think they’ve all gone to their dorms…”
Hillary looked up at the hall monitor, an expression of concern and anxiety on her face.
