Name: Harriet "Harrie" Jadin Darleh
Age: Fifteen
Year in Salem: Sophomore - Her Second Year
Gender: Female
Birthday/Sign: February 14th, 1982/Aquarius
Blood Type/Purity: AB/Half-blood
Family Members:
Jacinda - Ten- Half-blood - Half-Sister
Draven - Ten - Half-blood - Half-Brother
Sahara - Ten - Half-blood - Half-Sister
Amber Smith-Darleh - Muggle born - Mother (Deceased)
Silas Darleh - Pureblood - Father
Appearance:
Harriet "Harrie" Jadin Darleh has chin-length dirty blond hair. She is growing out her bangs, and usually wears her favorite red headband to keep it out of her face. As the result of a mis-made potion Harrie drank, she has sharp, lime green eyes. It is now part of her genes and thus her permanent eye color. However, Harrie was born with gray-blue eyes. Harrie has high cheekbones and a small nose. She has a slender build and reaches 5"2. She is rather flat-chested, and embarrassed about it. This leads to why Harrie prefers to dress in loose pink outfits - under her robes, of course.
Personality: To most people, Harrie is a cheerful, happy-go-lucky - though somewhat odd - person with optimistic views. But that's not Harrie at all. Harrie is really a quiet, unpredictable person who is often sarcastic and blunt. She never hesitates to speak up for what she believes in, though she is a purist and hopes for the Neo-DE's to take over SWIM.
Harrie hides behind her mask, afraid of other peoples' opinions when it comes to her personality. With her happy-go-lucky mask, it is easier for her to pretend not to hear things said about her. She isn't very self-confident, but is a true leader, able to face danger with a calm face. To those she opens up to, Harrie is exceedingly loyal to the point of death. She isn't very emotional - except when her short temper takes over - and often very detached. She is paranoid.
Honesty isn't something Harrie cares about when she says it. She often lies without a second thought and rarely feels guilty over her many white lies. But when it comes to what she hears and is told, Harrie will go to the extreme to make sure it is true (or prove it false). When in her mask, Harrie is very friendly, but behind it, Harrie is a loner at heart. With the attack, the true Harrie is slowly, but steadily removing her mask.
History:
When Durmstrang student, Silas Darleh was introduced to Hogwarts student, Amber Smith, he didn't really care. What he did care about, was when Amber messed up a spell and magically married the two of them - for life. Silas went along with it, although he despised the muggle-born girl. After school, they moved to the United States of America, where Harriet Jadin Darleh was born – on Valentine’s day.
When Harriet was four, her parents began to fight over her. As the only Darleh heiress, Silas wanted her. And as she was Amber's daughter, Amber wanted her. She was constantly portkeyed back and forth.
But when Amber, with a strange look in her eye, tried to kill Harriet with a knife one night at dinner, she was declared insane and Silas was given custody of his daughter. Harriet has several long scars on her body – where her mother cut her. It was after Amber’s death, a month later, that they discovered she had been under an Unforgivable’s affects. The first signs of this were when after cutting her daughter (who summoned the house elves, hid under the table and threw silverware at Amber, when she came near) she gasped and gave her lime-green pain reliever. This was incorrectly brewed (Amber often fumbled up potions and spells) and left Harriet paralyzed for three months and genetically changed her eye color to a bright, lime green. Harriet was worried at first, but happy to be away from her mother. She never fully grieved.
Shortly after Amber’s death, Silas married Cassiopeia Ziff, a first generation pureblood. They had triplets – Jacinda, Draven, and Sahara – two girls and one boy. The girls were almost identical while Draven looked different. At five years old, Harriet started showing signs of accidental magic. When she got upset, things around her transfigured themselves into what she wanted. For awhile, there were more dolls in the Darleh Mansion than anything else.
After her magic got to a point where it was dangerous for Harriet to go anywhere near a muggle settlement, Silas took Harriet to Wands R’ Us, where she obtained her 10 ¼ inch Cherry wand. A month later, five year old Harriet was enrolled in Coven school. Though a little young in her practical magic, defensive magic, and transfiguration classes (most of the children her age hadn’t started doing enough magic to need a wand, yet), Harrie found that spell work came very naturally to her.
One of her peers, Hoori Johnson, quickly became her best friend. It was then, at six years of age, Harriet gained her life-long nickname – Harrie. As the years went on, Harrie excelled at her wand work, as she was very advanced for her age. Alchemy was a constant struggle for Harrie, because she was weary of potions ever since she had spent those three months paralyzed. Harrie never saw the point in astronomy and often went through her father’s library for star-charts.
History was easy for her, because Harrie had a good memory. She delighted in practical magic, and one of her fantasies was becoming a curse-breaker. Harrie doubted it would come true, as her father intended to send her to finishing school after SWIM and then most likely get married to some pureblood from Europe. Harrie was certain she’d find out.
When she was eleven, Hoori told her he was leaving to go to Hogwarts in Europe, Harrie’s heart broke. She had developed a crush on Hoori, and he was her best friend. They said goodbye, but Harrie went into a depressed state that lasted almost one full year. She drew vivid images in her sketchbook, and life went on.
From the time she got her wand, to the time she started SWIM, Harrie’s father taught her dark magic and black magic. It wasn’t very advanced, but Harrie knew how to successfully murder someone fifty different ways before she was ten. Every now and then Harrie still dabbles in dark magic.
Shortly before she started SWIM, Harrie developed a personality to mask her true one. She got on well enough with her peers, but never really opened up to anyone- although she did develop a crush on one of the Ptolemy students. That year was fairly uneventful... And, then it happened.
One night in November, a student came running into the dorms and yelled for them to go into their rooms and lock their doors. The panicked look on the students’ face confirmed her fears. Something dangerous was in the school. She let her mask drop and she bit her lip. Harrie knew her face showed her fear, and, for once, she didn’t care. Her wand in hand, she walked – backwards – to her room and sat on her bed, reading a book. Her wand was tucked over her ear and Harrie didn’t sleep that night. She even went as far as to drink a pepper-up potion, and as Harrie hated potions, this was a very extreme thing for her.
The next day, she was told what had happened. She was somewhat relieved – they would never harm a purist-supporter, would they? Harrie suspected her father was involved. When she was portkeyed to her home, Harrie noticed her father looked worn out. She exchanged greetings with her stepmother, and hugged the triplets. Jacinda and Sahara didn’t seem to mind very much but Draven protested he was too old for hugs. Harrie got tutored with several professionals hired by her father. As a result of one-on-one tutoring, Harrie managed to get over her fear of potions and create decent potions. She eagerly awaited the return of SWIM. Harrie resolved to drop her mask.

Harrie yawned loudly, scratching her forehead. Roaming the halls at night – especially when she couldn’t sleep – was a habit of hers that Harrie just couldn’t seem to break herself out of. She walked on. Her shoes were bewitched to be silent, so when Harrie heard the soft squeaking of moving shoes, she backed up against the walls, snatched her wand from behind right ear, and positioned herself in a dueling stance.
Despite the fact Harrie knew she would join up with the Neo-Death Eaters, they might mistake her for a Hall Monitor and injure her. After all, she wasn’t supposed to be wandering the halls after lights out.
“Lumos.” A voice said, and Harrie sighed in relief, forgetting to stay quiet. This voice didn’t sound as old as she knew the Neo-DE’s had to be. As she suspected, the Hall Monitor approached her.
“Darleh. You’ve been caught after lights out before.” The Hall Monitor grabbed her arm roughly and walked her to the entrance of her dorm. “You know better.” Harrie scowled and pushed his arm off of hers.
“What if the Neo-DEs came back?” She couldn’t resist asking him, keeping her voice even, although she knew from the reflection of the Hall Monitor’s glasses, her eyes were dancing with mirth as she taunted him. “I wouldn’t be doing my duty of helping SWIM if I left it all up to the Hall Monitors. Either way, g’night.” Rolling her eyes at her stupidity and the annoyingness of Hall Monitors, she slammed the door in his face and stalked up to her room where she sat on her bed where she sulked until she felt asleep.
