Name: Jacqui
Other characters on the board: None
Are you over 13?: Yes
Name: Bridget Sansotta
Age: 16
Year in Salem: Junior
Gender: Female
Birthday/Sign: December 15/ Sagittarius
Blood Type/Purity: Muggleborn
Appearance:
Bridget’s most recognizable feature is her long, curly brown hair. She loves her hair. It’s thick, soft, and wavy at the top, curled in ringlets at the bottom. Bridget is quite tall at 5’9”. She has a very soft face, with innocent looking brown eyes and very clear skin. She can see flaws no one else can see, though. Such as the scar above her eye she got when she fell off the swing as a child, she sees it as clear as day but others have to look very close before they can even catch a glimpse. Bridget absolutely haves her lips, which she says are uneven: her top is thin while her bottom is puffy.
Personality:
Bridget firmly believes there is good in everyone. She is a true optimistic, perhaps so positive she’s blinded from reality at some times. Couple with her forgiving and idealistic nature, Bridget is often perceived as naïve and gullible. While this may sometimes be the case, she is not weak-willed or easily led. She makes her own decisions and her mind cannot be changed very easily.
Sometimes Bridget might say some very tactless things. She is simply a very honest person, and doesn’t dance around the truth. As she expects people to do the same, she is always surprised when she finds out she is being lied to, or things are not as they see. Bridget takes things at face value.
Bridget is extremely adventurous and fun-loving. Everything is a game to her. Life is a game, because if she looks at it that way, it is easier to keep up her positive attitude. Because if this she is often careless and impulsive.
Having grown up an only child, Bridget has always gotten pretty much everything she wanted. She lived a very sheltered life. Upon finding out not everyone was as well off as her, she wanted to help everyone. But she is very materialistic and doesn’t like doing things for herself, and if helping people means physical labor or going without something she wants, she won’t do it. But she talks about it, because it makes her sound caring and martyr-ish.
Very loyal, Bridget supports her friends in everything they do. She’s very encouraging and tries to make them believe they can do it, whatever ‘it’ may be. Also, when someone is upset, Bridget tries her hardest to make them feel better. Unfortunately she will often say the wrong thing and just make it worse.
History:
Bridget grew up in a good sized house overlooking a lake. From the time she was born, she was truly Daddy’s Little Girl. He gave her everything she wanted. He was her little miracle. You see, Susan and Derrick thought they couldn’t have children, and they wanted a little person to love desperately. Then little Bridget came along, and they knew she was a gift from the Universe (they were very spiritual). So they treated her like a little princess.
This didn’t spoil Bridget at all. Yes, perhaps she grew attached to having everything she wanted. But she was the friendliest, loveliest little girl you’d ever meet. She’d only ever known nice people, so she didn’t know any different. Her parents had taught her the world was a wonderful place. She knew there were so-called ‘bad’ people, but her parents told her that there was good even in the worst person. And she believed them.
But Bridget didn’t ask too many questions about the world. She was too busy exploring her garden, or playing with her toys, to care what was going on anywhere but right where she was.
Sarah and Derrick wanted Bridget to be ‘cultured’, so they signed her up for dance lessons, as well as piano and violin tuition. She didn’t take to the violin, but absolutely loved dancing and piano. When she is upset, she plays the piano to hide her feelings. And when she is happy, or bored, she dances.
When her parents found out she was a witch, they were thrilled. She was an even better gift than they’d thought. Her mother, Sarah, dabbled in what Muggles called Wicca, but to have a real witch in their family was phenomenal.
Bridget excelled in the elementary coven. She found out that some Muggleborn witches and wizards didn’t have the support of their parents, like she did. This was sad. She also found out more about the world. Others didn’t know why the fact that there were starving children in Africa shocked her so much, but she just never knew. She didn’t even know what it was like to be hungry, having always eaten regularly.
She wanted to go over to every poor person and save them right then. A young child saying that with such seriousness, conviction, and passion must have been very cute. It was explained to her that she couldn’t do that, it was impossible. She was sad, but then she brightened and said quickly, “When I grow up I’ll be able to do it!”.
And so her idealism went on.
Soon it was time for her to go to SWIM. She was so excited, but also apprehensive. It would be the first time she would be away from her parents. But as usual, she hid her anxiety under a mask of positivity. Those closest to her could see right through it, but they said nothing, knowing she’d be fine.
And she was fine. She bloomed at the school. Bridget adapted quickly to boarding school life and excelled at the subjects, just as she did before. But then one fateful November, the school was attacked. This shook Bridget so much she cried for hours. She was not used to hostility at all.
Bridget was more scared of coming back to school after that than she was when she first started. Her parents didn’t want her to return. They were worried about their only daughter’s wellbeing. But despite her fear, Bridget liked school and wanted to go back. For the first time she had a fight with her parents. Once the first tear dropped, they gave in. They hated to see her unhappy, which was part of the reason she acted so happy all the time.
And so Bridget was allowed back at school, and she had learned a valuable lesson: crying works to get what you want.
Likes: Music, dance, animals, life in general.
Dislikes: Discussions on politics or the state of the world, mean people, people with no common sense or logic
Special Abilities:
Hopes and Dreams: Bridget hopes to help eradicate poverty, or at least make some sort of difference in the world. But what she would really love would be to find a nice rich husband to marry so she wouldn’t have to work.
Wand: Willow, Dragon Heartstring, 12 inches
Broom: Firebolt
Pet: Fluffy black and white kitten named Lila, which she got about two weeks before school started when her old cat died of old age.
Writing Sample:
“Oh dear,” Bridget whispered to herself, rushing towards her dormitory. “Oh, dear, oh dear…”
Bridget had fallen asleep in the garden. How she’d done it, she didn’t know at all. All she knew was that one minute she was sitting there, reading, and the next it was dark and she was using her book for a blanket. Well, it was a boring book.
She’d considered staying where she was. The hall monitors didn’t check there, no one did. It was her favourite alone spot. But she didn’t like breaking rules on purpose, so she left.
Now, however, as she was jumping at every noise and shadow, she’d wished she’d stayed. She did not want to be caught out after dark. What if they wrote to her parents? It would just worry them. Thinking she heard someone speak, Bridget backed away from the noise. Straight into a hall monitor.
