Are you over 13?: Yes, 16
Name: Jerome Lewis
Age: 17
Year in Salem: Senior
Gender: Male
Birthday/Sign: April 17/Aries
Blood Type/Purity: Halfblood
Family Members:
Mother, Carmella Lewis, Witch
Father, Elijah Lewis, Muggleborn
Sister, Linnea, 13
Sister, Tamsen, 13
Appearance:
Longish light brown hair frames Jerome's rigid face, where his features give him an eternally sombre expression. His brown eyes are always very serious, even when he laughs, and he always looks like he's deep in concentration. He is quite tall and slightly lanky (some would call him 'slim').
Personality:
Jerome loves sports, he's a very active young man, but he hates working as part of a team. He seems to think other people helping him just get in his way. He hates having to work in pairs in class as well (unless, of course, it's a pretty girl). It's fine if he can get them to do all the work, but if he has to do any, he'll have to do it all. He lacks the ability to work with others.
It isn't that he doesn't like people, of course. Arrogant though he may be, he recognises there are people out there worthy of his attention. He even calls a few 'friends'. But he's always argung with people. Partly because he particularly cares who is wrong or right, but he just loves conflict. Not that he'd ever let the other person win. He does care a little, I guess.
With Jerome, things are very black and white. He likes you or he hates you, something is good or bad, etc. The concept of 'grey area' isn't one that seems to have crossed the young man's mind. This also applies to the truth.
Jerome is the type of student to be in trouble every week, but just for little things like talking too much in class, chatting back to the teacher, forgetting to turn in homework now and then. He's also been caught out of bed after dark a couple of times. He's an inquistive and daring person, and those two qualities don't mix well if you want a well behaved student.
History:
Growing up in the middle of the big city, Jerome was immersed in Muggle culture despite the fact the majority of his family were magical. This gave him quite an open mind to the Muggles, and he showed none of the distrust of them that his mother did. It also helped his paternal grandparents were Muggles, and they were by far the most lovely people Jerome ever knew.
They never had much money when he was growing up. Jerome and his sisters, the twins Linnea and Tamsen, learnt the beauty of the five finger discount quite quickly. They used to want to use magic underage so much, but they didn't want to give their parents any trouble. They were never caught by Muggles, though.
Since Broom games were out of the question in the main, giving where he lived, Jerome took up Muggle sports to keep him busy. His favourite was basketball, because he could sort of imitate his favourite Quidditch position (Chaser). Jerome also liked soccer.
Since Jerome's father had two jobs, he never saw his kids very much. But he made it up to them well. Every time he had a bit of time off, he took the kids to the beach or some other fun place like that. Jerome's mother away a lot, and she never explained why. Jerome often wondered if she was sick and had to go to hospital for special treatment. Because of all this, Jerome's grandparents raised him and his sisters, mostly.
When he was twelve, Jerome found out he was right about his mother. She died of a mysterious illness no one seemed to be able to cure, despite the Wizarding Doctors' best attempts. The money issue lessened a little then. It seemed his mother's 'treatment' had been costing a lot.
It was then Jerome decided he wanted to be a Wizarding Doctor. He didn't want anyone else to lose their mother like he did. So when it was time for him to take his SMART test, he tried his hardest to get good results.
However, once he got to school, he decided life was too short to waste studying all the time. He was cocky about his abilities, and he still wanted to become a Healer. But he was too busy socialising and stuff to really care about school. He found it all very tedious.
The attack on the school by the so-called 'Neo-Death Eaters thouroughly annoyed Jerome, especially since he'd been taking a nap at the time and they woke him up. Quite sleepy, he didn't really take in what was happening at the time. Later, everyone thought he was really brave, and not just disorienated, and he didn' bother correcting them.
Jerome spent the entire time at home ranting the Neo-Death Eaters. They'd really scared a lot of the students and quite a few were talking about not coming back. He kept talking about becoming an Auror, which was quite a change from his usual Doctor ambition. He had to choose soon, since he would be a Senior when he went back, so he decided on Wizarding Doctor, since they have basically the same subjects needed anyway.
Likes: Sports, most definitely. Social interaction with those he deems 'worthy'.
Dislikes: People trying to 'help' him.
Best Subject: Runeology
Special Abilities: He had a very god aim with a ball.
Hopes and Dreams: Jerome is of two minds. He wants to become a Wizaring Doctor, to help people. But he also wants to become and Auror, to kill people. Granted the people he'd be killing would be evil and those he'd be saving good, but he just can't seem to work out which is a better cause. He'll probably end up going for the one that pays more.

'It seemed like a good idea at the time' could be Jerome's catch phrase. In fact, he said it so often it almost was. That, and 'I didn't do it'. Well, the former was the excuse he was going to give his roommate about coming to bed at midnight covered in a strange transluscent substance.
Well, he'd wanted to know what that plant did! It was too well guarded during the day, by that plant-Nazi who called themself the Herbology teacher. But even obsessive weirdos had to sleep, so Jerome put his curoisity to rest. It turned out it wasn't put to rst at all, as all that happened was he blacked out for two minutes after he touched it and found himself headed for his room covered in he didn't want to know what.
He felt a hand on his shoulder, and then he felt the hand instantly let go. Jerome turned around. "I can explain!" he said quickly. Yet another catch phrase of his.
