Sean glanced at his watch. It was 7:55 and if he remembered correctly he was to meet Elaina in the common room at 8. Running his hands through his hair one more time and dusting himself with his body spray, Sean decided he looked pretty good. He was dressed in a fitted white shirt tucked into faded and loose jeans and a dark green zipped hoodie that was half unzipped. Not half bad.
Jogging down the stairs, Sean went through his schedule for the day in his head. Emma told Sean that Elaina's birthday was coming up, and since this was the closest Salem's Peak trip to it, Sean hoped to have a joint birthday celebration for the both of them. His was a couple weeks ago, but he had been waiting to celebrate it properly. And what better way then with a beautiful girl.
First there would be a trip to the skating rink, and then food somewhere private. Maybe after that they would go to the mall and he would get her something small. He had saved up his allowance for this date, so he could afford something pretty nice. The day would end with a walk in the park, and hopefully more if he could get her somewhere private. Smiling to himself, he jumped down the last few stairs and made it to the landing, looking around for his date.

One of the first things that Elaina had learned about going on dates is that appearance is half the battle, and conversation the other. Elaina wanted to make sure that she looked good so that Sean didn’t have to spend his valuable time thinking that he should have asked a prettier girl other than her on a date. So far the hardest part of figuring out how to look good was picking out what to wear. She thought about asking Emma for advice, but she never got around to it. Elaina went through her clothing, tossing every shirt on the bed in separate piles with either a ‘no’ or a ‘maybe’. After a few minutes of looking and re-looking over the clothes she finally decided on a pair of dark blue jeans, a dressy black shirt (because it was slimming), and a dark green jacket that had ‘Agrippa’ printed on the back.
Elaina finally looked in the mirror. For once she felt like a million dollars. With a glance to her watch she noticed that it was already 7:55, and she was supposed to meet Sean at 8:00. Elaina quickly looked into the mirror once more to make sure that her hair wasn’t messed up or anything and made her way down to meet Sean. She started out at a calm pace, but it occurred to her that tardiness wouldn’t look good for their first date together. With that thought her pace picked up a little. Once more Elaina glanced at her watch as she reached to common room, 8:00 on the dot. When she looked up she saw Sean standing there, and hoped that she didn’t look bad, despite her great amount of time in front of the mirror.
“Hey.” Elaina said to him as she walked towards him. Elaina slipped on her green jacket that she had been carrying and nervously tugged at the bottom corners of it. “You ready?” she asked as she forced herself to let go of her jacket corners.

“Hey. You ready?”
Her voice caught Sean's attention and he turned to see a rather nervous looking Elaina. His eyes swept from her face to her chest and then a bit more reluctantly from there to her shoes and back again. She looked... fantastic. Sean suddenly wondered if he could just forgo all the date nonsense and go straight to making out in the park. But then he reminded himself that men and women were as fundamentally different as store bought and home cooked cake. Guys were store bought, ready to go at any time. All you had to do was remove the packaging and enjoy. But girls were like home cooked. They needed special treatment. Everything had to be properly measured and carefully baked. It was all in the timing. If you did it right, you got something hot and sweet. And the wait made you only want it more.
Realizing he had been silent for a moment, and probably gawking like a fool, Sean smiled. Leaning forward he caught her lips in a kiss before she could pull away. Pulling back so that the kiss was light and promised more to come later, Sean smiled at her. "You look... beautiful...." He said, his eyes looking her over once more with an appreciative smile. Winking at her, he offered his arm to her. "Shall we head out? The buses should be leaving soon..."

At first Sean’s gawking had made her a bit on edge. She wasn’t sure if he was looking at her because she looked good or if she had something in her teeth. Elaina stealthily, subconsciously ran her tongue over her teeth. She was glad when Sean finally stopped staring at her. It made her feel a lot better. She was positive he would have said something if there was something wrong with her appearance. Elaina was just the type of person that would fret over such a thing. No one liked to be caught with something in their teeth on a date.
It surprised Elaina when Sean kissed her; it also confirmed that there was indeed nothing stuck in her teeth. It really shocked her that Sean was being such a gentleman. Not that she didn’t think that he could be… it just didn’t seem likely.
"You look... beautiful...."
Elaina smiled, “You look rather sharp yourself.” She replied with a nod. Even though Elaina thought that Sean was dressed nice all the time, it seemed different in the situation they were in. If she saw him dressed like he was in class Elaina would most likely think nothing of it. But since she was going on a date with him, the tables were turned a little bit. Her former opinions of Sean were beginning to change as she was around him more. Elaina had never talked to Sean that much in previous years, but for some reason she felt different this year. Elaina couldn’t figure out if it was just what happened near the lake or if she was genuinely beginning to like Sean.
"Shall we head out? The buses should be leaving soon..."
Sean’s question snapped Elaina back to reality. “Oh, yeah…” she said as she linked her arm with his. “Let us head out.” She added with a smile. She almost couldn’t wait to see where they would be going first.

Half an Hour later, The Salem's Peak Skate Park. I did get permission to godmod Elaina's part a little.
"OK... " Sean said as he got off the bus. He had asked Elaina to keep her eyes closed for the last several minutes before the arrived at their stop. He wanted this to be a surprise. Leading her off, Sean pressed a hand against the small of her back as the other dug out the galleons and sickles in his pocket. "Alright... I gotcha. Just walk forward."
As they neared the entrance, Sean removed his hand from her back and whispered against her ear "Just a moment... Wait here and don't open your eyes...." Having gotten her shoe size out of her earlier, with much trouble, Sean jogged over to the skate rental kiosk and tossed some sickles on the table. " Male size 13 and girls size 7...."
The guy took what felt like forever before he handed Sean a pair of dainty white girls skates and larger bulky black hockey skates. Accepting them, Sean ran back to Elaina. Standing in front of her and raising the skate up so she could see them, Sean let a goofy grin spread across his face as he said "Alright! You can open them now!"

"Alright! You can open them now!"
When Elaina was finally able to open her eyes she saw the skates dangling in front of her. Her eyes lit up in surprise, “Wow, Sean!” she said in an impressed tone as she took the girls skates into her hands. She looked them over before she looked up to Sean, “So this is why you wanted my shoe size.” She teased. Elaina was really surprised. She thought that he would probably just try to make out with her or something equally as low for the first hour and a half of their date. At least she could be sure that Sean was serious about having a good time instead of a “good” time.
“Thanks, Sean, this is going to be pretty exciting.” Elaina said before quickly kissing him on the cheek. That was a woman’s way of saying that things might go his way later if things went her way first. Elaina looked around for a nearby bench. Once she singled a vacant one out she walked towards it and motioned for Sean to follow her. She sat down and pulled her shoes off and putting the skates on. Elaina made sure to tie them tight; she could just see herself taking a face plant because her skates weren’t tied well. Putting the rubber guard on the bottom that helped with walking on floors she looked up to Sean with a smile.
This would have to be the best start that any of Elaina’s dates had ever had. There was one she had with Jerome during that whole thing, but she wasn’t thinking about Jerome. Elaina was only thinking about how this date might actually end up. It was still a mystery to Elaina of what else Sean had planned. Whatever it was though, Elaina just hoped that it was good.

“Wow, Sean! So this is why you wanted my shoe size.”
Sean chuckled as he let go of the skates laces so she could take them. Stepping off to the side, Sean motioned a little that she could pick a bench for them to sit at, saying, "Yeah.. well... It was a pain not to ruin the surprise... Next time you should just trust me when I ask you quest..." His rant trailed off when she turned to him. The smile on her face and her words “Thanks, Sean, this is going to be pretty exciting.” pretty much took away any irritation he may have had at her being so stubborn before. Following it up with a chaste kiss on the cheek told him that he was doing a pretty good job. He would definitely be enjoying his evening if he kept it up.
A goofy grin on his face, Sean followed her to a vacant bench. As she sat to put her skates on, Sean just dumped his on the ground. Using his foot to pry his sneakers off, Sean shoved his socked foot into one of the skates and bent over to lace them up. He had been skating before in hockey skates. It was his cousins sport of choice and Greg would always drag Sean out on the iced over lake when he visited for winter vacation. Sean wasn't the most graceful skater, but he did well enough. Quidditch training had made his reflexes and balance a lot better then it had been before.
Straightening up, Sean glanced down at a smiling Elaina. She already had hers on and even remembered to place the rubber skate guards on so she didn't fall. The soft smile on her face made him grin. He didn't know what it was in her face, but it made him smile. It was like she was... happy to be with him.
Wiping the grin off his face and replacing it with a charming one, Sean remembered that they were there to skate, not to bashfully smile at each other. Offering her his hand, he jerked his head toward the ice. "Alright... let's try it out then... When was the last time you have been skating?"

"Alright... let's try it out then... When was the last time you have been skating?"
“Well, the last time I went skating was… my freshman year.” Elaina said. She knew that wasn’t a good thing. No practice normally equaled bad skating, but Elaina was confident that she could do anything that some girl in a tutu and a guy in tights could do. Elaina’s competitiveness always tended to get the best of her. She didn’t want to think that some girly girl was better than her in anyway.
A song that was playing over the loud speaker of the ice skating arena surprised her; the words were: ‘Who peed in your cheerios? Only heaven knows. We’d be peas in a pod, but who’s got your panties in such a wad?’ Elaina shook her head with a smile as she stood. Hopefully that song wasn’t foreshadowing the end of their date, or at least Elaina hoped not. The night before the date she had spent time practicing keeping her cool in front of the mirror and everything. Her new room mate wasn’t helping much either considering the very brief warning that was given about Sean’s short tension span when it came to girls.
“So, you ready to give this a try?” Elaina asked Sean as she looked towards the ice. There were a few people stumbling out there so she didn’t feel too bad for not having skated in the last three years. But there were also people out there that were amazing skaters. None the less, Elaina wasn’t intimidated by the better skaters.

“Well, the last time I went skating was… my freshman year.”
"I'm sure you will do fine..." Sean said a bit absentmindedly. He was watching the other skaters. The demographic of talent on the ice that day was a pretty good variety. There were a few couples, and individual skaters, that were twirling about like they were trying out for the Olympics. And naturally there was the horrible newbies that were clinging to the sides of the rink, trying to catch their footing and failing. And then, dispersed about, was the average skaters, like them. Sean regarded a young man a few years older then himself lifting a pretty petite girl over his head. Sean was strong, but he didn't think he could lift Elaina, however slim she was, over his head and keep his balance. He would be lucky if he remembered how to stop.
“So, you ready to give this a try?”
Snapping back to attention, Sean smiled at Elaina. She seemed confident enough, despite having not been skating for a few years. Sean hoped that they could pull this off and not look like the idiots clinging to each other to try and stay upright. But then, the idiots in question fell to the ice on top of each other, their laughter pealing through the rink and Sean wondered if it might not be such a bad thing to have to cling so tightly to Elaina or pull her on top of him when he fell. Maybe he would have to unlearn his skating skills.
"Sure..." He said with a smile, linking his arm with hers. The two hobbled on the rubber floortowards the rink, Sean making things slower by leaning closely against Elaina. As they got to the ice, Sean let himself stumble a bit, almost pulling them down. But he caught his balanced and offered Elaina a sheepish smile. "Sorry... it's been a while.... Wanna lead the way?"

Elaina was relieved when Sean linked his arm with hers and they began to head towards the ice. She thought they might never get away from that bench. Not expecting Sean to stumble, she tripped forward a bit, but caught herself from falling to the ground. She looked at Sean and saw that grin that Sean seemed to have perfected. With anyone else her reaction might have been irritation, but her before hand mental preparation helped her keep her cool. Elaina shook her head with a smile.
"Sorry... it's been a while.... Wanna lead the way?"
“Sure, that was a close one.” Elaina said as she led the way towards the ice. Elaina used her free hand to grab a hold of the small wall that separated them from the ice. She wasn’t quite sure if she was ready to get on the ice. There was a tiny amount of fear that she might mess things up. Not willing to let Sean know that she was nervous, she grinned towards him and unlinked her arm from his. Elaina took off the rubber grips from her skates and looked back up.
“Alright, you ready?” Elaina asked in a teasing tone. She knew that he was probably more than ready to get out on the ice. Elaina looked to the ice and back at him as she carefully opened the gate door.
(sorry>< It's not that great a post.)

((it's Fine )) “Alright, you ready?”Sean flashed her a grin as they got to the ice. "Baby, I was born ready...." He chuckled, stepping slowly out on the ice and helping her as well. As soon as they started forward, Sean tripped up, this time for real. Nearly tripping Elaina, Sean whipped around and stopped his descent by slamming into the glass wall around the rink. Before Elaina fell, Sean twirled her over and pressed her against him to stop her from falling. The initial embarrassment of actually tripping wore off the moment Elaina's body made contact with his. She was soft and perfectly shaped in all the right places. Grinning down at her, Sean noticed their faces were only a few inches apart, "Well... What do you know..." He chuckled, "...Skating is fun..."

For a moment Elaina was afraid that she would end up face first on the ice. Luckily Sean had managed to catch himself on the glass and catch her too. She ended up to where her face was mere inches away from Sean’s. If she wasn’t careful then it would most likely end up like the night at the lake. It wouldn’t be too good of her to take advantage of Sean just because he was a great kisser. Elaina smiled, glad that she hadn’t started out the evening with a bruise.
"Well... What do you know....Skating is fun..."
Elaina couldn’t help but laugh, “Yeah, it is.” She said in reply to his statement. After a moment of just sitting there being close to him she decided that she had better back away a little. Making sure that she had her balance, Elaina pulled away from Sean. She kept her eye on him just in case he tripped again. Elaina joined her hands behind her back, “Think we can do this without killing ourselves first?” she asked with a smile. It was obvious that neither of them were extremely great skaters, unless Sean was just acting out in order to get her close to him.

(( hmmm... what now... what now... I am gonna mix it up a bit in a few posts.. so um... Just go with it? LOL))
Sean was disappointed when she didn't close the distance between them. It was such a perfect time... though not a perfect place he reminded himself when he almost tripped up again. Maybe she just didn't do it because there were so many people around. She was probably waiting until later. He smiled at the thought, pushing himself up off the wall.
“Think we can do this without killing ourselves first?”
Sean smiled at her, this time almost sweetly. He was rather embarrassed that he was skating so badly. Even though he had intended to pretend to be bad so they could cling to each other, he was still embarrassed that he had done it for real. He was an idiot. Running his hand through his hair sheepishly, he nodded. "Sure.. but let's hold hands... just to stay up you know..." He said as he took her hand. Her hands were small and smooth next to his larger and quidditch calloused hands. It felt nice. And then Sean was aware of a strange bubbling in his gut that he hadn't felt for a looong time, not even when he was making out with Elaina the night before. Was it butterflies? but why? All they were doing was holding hands, not that big of a deal.
Shrugging it off to embarrassment from earlier, Sean squeezed her hand, starting to skate forward. "You seem to skate better then me... wanna brush me up on how to stop?" He said with a puppy dog face.

"Sure... but let's hold hands... just to stay up you know..."
Elaina nodded with a smile as she took his hand and they began to pull off. Everything about the date seemed to be quite enjoyable so far. She just wondered if it was going to stay that way, or if there was a chance of something going terribly wrong. Despite the chill that the ice gave off her hand felt quite warm in his. Elaina’s previous opinion of Sean from years before would have led her to disagree with them holding hands, but something about it just felt right this year. She was really glad that it did.
"You seem to skate better then me... wanna brush me up on how to stop?"
Suddenly every little thought Elaina had halted. She wondered if she could remember how to stop, but how could she turn down that face?! Elaina shrugged, “Um, I’ll try and explain it the best I can.” She said finally. “Okay, take your right foot and put it behind the other at an angle to where it kind of scrapes the ice as you go. That should work.” She said. Elaina wasn’t quite sure if it would actually work, but it usually worked better than falling face first on the ice.

“Um, I’ll try and explain it the best I can. Okay, take your right foot and put it behind the other at an angle to where it kind of scrapes the ice as you go. That should work.”
The moment she described how to stop, Sean remembered why he hated skating, and even more, skating in hockey skates. Stopping in those damn contraptions was like slamming yourself into a brick wall. In fact, that is exactly how he usually stopped. That or falling face first onto the ice. He broke his nose one year doing that, and it whistled every time he talked until the head healer popped it back into place with Magic. The guy may have been an ass, but Sean had to say that his nose came out perfect and unbroken after that, so he wasn't going to complain.
Deciding that he would look like a wimp if he didn't at least try to skate after that, Sean let go of her. If this attempt was anything like his others, pulling her down with him would result in broken bones rather then a compromising position. Picking up a little speed he tried to angle his skates. Naturally, this was about as effective as trying to milk a cat and Sean majestically came to a sliding halt.... on his rear.
Before she could help him up, Sean struggled to his feet. He was a man dammit, and he could do this! "I'm good... I think I got it this time..." he said sheepishly before limping off again. After a few more tries he managed to stop properly. Skating back to her, Sean came to a near perfect, though still a bit shaky, stop. Grinning at her with a self satisfied grin, he said with a smile "... I got it now... Of course..." He said, his smile becoming flirtatious rather then smug as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close "...I had an excellent teacher..."

Elaina watched as he instinctively tried to stop on his own without further help from her. There were a few times when she noticed that he didn’t quite make the stop, and she was glad that he was finally able to get it right after a few tries. It had to be a little harder to stop in the big bulky hockey skates than it was in her small figure skating skates. Elaina came to a stop as he came towards her. For a moment she thought he might take another tumble, but he fixed it just in time to stop.
"...I had an excellent teacher..."
A smile spread across her lips as he pulled her close and she chuckled softly, “I think you give me too much credit.” She said softly as she slowly slid her arm around his waist so that the position she was in didn’t feel as awkward. It would have felt wrong to simply keep her arm by her side while he had his around her waist. Not to mention how bad that would be once they started skating again. “Um, maybe we should start moving again.” She said as she watched a few people skate on by them. They were blocking the flow of traffic by just standing there on the ice.

“I think you give me too much credit. Um, maybe we should start moving again.”
Sean chuckled a little, under his breath, as her arm snaked around his waist. She seemed a little unsure about it, like she didn't want him to get the wrong idea, but something she would learn quickly was that Sean Ferris ALWAYS had the wrong idea. 'She wants me' was his mantra for Merlins' sake! So when she suggested that they start moving, Sean had no intention of complying. Instead he spun so that he could pull her closer, facing her instead of being side to side. As their bodies meshed, he smiled down at her, watching as their breath intertwined in the air.
"Just a moment... They can wait..." He said softly, leaning in, his lips intent on hers. But before he could close in the kiss, some jackass came charging by, ramming into them. It wasn't hard enough to knock them down, but Sean was rammed against the wall again.
"Outta the way dumbass!" The guy yelled as he came to a halt by slamming into the wall. Sean figured that he couldn't skate very well and hadn't been able to stop, but that didn't stop Sean from wishing he was alone so he could break the guys legs for ruining a perfect moment. But alas, Elaina was right there and Sean wasn't about to make her think he was a jerk by fighting. Besides, he liked the skating rink, he didn't want to get kicked out.
"Jerk.... Come on, your right... Let's start moving..." He muttered, the mood lost as he let go of her waist and took her hand instead. Realizing after a moment of silent skating that he was being surly and disagreeable on what had been a good date. Squeezing her hand, he smiled at her "Sorry about that... I just hate it when people ruin good moments..."

Elaina smiled as their bodies came together after the twirl. She could feel the heat pass between them despite the temperature of the rink. Even thought Elaina had to admit that she liked it, in the back of her mind she kept thinking that she wasn’t going to get that involved with Sean on the date. Perhaps she was slowly changing her mind about that.
"Just a moment... They can wait..."
That was what she wanted to hear. Being just a teenage girl; Elaina was losing all logical thinking she had left. She wanted him to kiss her, but that thought was brought to an abrupt end as a guy rammed into them. Elaina almost fell, but she was lucky enough to regain her footing in time. She looked over to Sean as she held onto the wall for support. It was obvious that Sean was a little pissed off about it.
"Jerk.... Come on, your right... Let's start moving..."
Elaina nodded as he took her by the hand. She couldn’t help but feel that moment had been a turning point of their date. As a few minutes of silence went by Elaina was about to drive her self crazy with worry that it would turn out to be a bad date, or worse, that Sean would be in a bad mood for the rest of the night.
"Sorry about that... I just hate it when people ruin good moments..."
Sean’s apology made her smile. It made her think that maybe he was being serious about this date. “It’s okay… what that jerk lacks in talent he makes up for in stupidity.” She said. Elaina used one of her many talents; sarcasm.

((Sorry it took so long))
“It’s okay… what that jerk lacks in talent he makes up for in stupidity.”
Sean let out a peal of laughter that echoed around the room, inciting several dirty looks from the other skaters. The guy that knocked into them also glared at them, and in the process ran into the wall. As they skated past the fallen skater, Sean sneered a little at him. Served him right.
Shaking his head, Sean let go of her hand and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, his bad mood gone. Squeezing her a little he grinned "Beautiful AND smart... I like.... " His skating skills were slowly coming back to him, each stride smoother then before. Before long he might be able to stop without an issue. That would be nice, since at the moment, he was only continuing skating because he didn't want to make a fool of himself again.
After a moment of silence, he spoke again. "So..." He started, a little less sure of himself this time, "... What do you want to do when we are done skating?"
((We can continue skating, or go somewhere else.... probably soon...))

Elaina found herself in a kind of daze, staring at the ice as she skated. She was thinking about this date. Originally she had come to just get out of the school whether it was with Sean Ferris or not, but now that she was beginning to think that she liked him a little; it began to feel like there was another reason that she had decided to come on the date. Suddenly, like a brick to the head in a good moment, she remembered what Victoria had said about Sean finding other girls and not even hesitating to flirt with them. Elaina hoped that what they had at that moment was something real, and she genuinely hoped that she wasn’t just another one of his attempts to flirt.
"... What do you want to do when we are done skating?"
Shaking her head Elaina looked to him, “Sorry, I was a little spaced out… um, think there’s any good movies playing?” she suggested. Elaina wasn’t sure what he thought about going to movies. From just knowing Sean; Elaina figured that he wouldn’t dare pass the opportunity to be with a girl in the darkness of a movie theatre. Even though she wasn’t really sure why she suggested it, she thought it sounded like a great idea. Elaina lay her head on Sean’s shoulder as they skated, “I’m fine with pretty much anything…” she said finally after a few minutes of pondering what would be the best thing to say.
